Before 2024–2025, Chelsea may bring back two former teammates to Stamford Bridge.
Georgiy Sudakov, a target for Chelsea, says his friend and fellow international Mykhaylo Mudryk told him he is “not ready” for the demands of the Premier League. Sudakov is scheduled to depart Shakhtar Donetsk this summer, and the Blues have been among those who have talked about a potential permanent transfer.
Mudryk followed the same route from Shakhtar to west London in January of last year, but since moving to Stamford Bridge, a massive £88.5 million deal, the winger has struggled, scoring just seven goals in 58 games.
Although Sudakov is two years younger than his fellow Ukrainian at 21, the wantaway midfielder for Shakhtar is certain he has what it takes to handle the pressure of playing in the English premier league.
We communicate with each other every day,” Sudakov said to The I. “[Mudryk] is a close friend of mine.” He’s played a lot more and achieved a lot more success in the past two months. He had a difficult beginning both physically and mentally, but little by little he is making progress.
“I have witnessed firsthand how much he has matured over the course of the season when we play together for the national team. I mentioned to him how much I would like to play in the Premier League and how great it would be to be on the same team.
“Misha informed me that, should I decide to visit England, I will need to prepare for the level of pressure that exists there, as I was not prepared for it. However, I am. My dream league is the Premier League. Playing there at one of the best clubs would be fantastic.”
According to Express Sport, talks between Sudakov’s camp and Chelsea and Tottenham have taken place in advance of the summer transfer window. Napoli had the opportunity to sign Shakhtar for £43 million in January, but the Ukrainian team is now requesting a payment of around £60 million.
Even though things are moving behind the scenes and Shakhtar CEO Sergei Palkin has publicly acknowledged that Sudakov will be sold, the team is anticipated to wait until after Euro 2024 in the hopes that a strong competition will increase Sudakov’s valuation.
For Shakhtar, Sudakov has played in the first team for almost a century. On June 17, when Ukraine plays Romania in their opening group stage match, he will be among the first names on the roster.
Sudakov went on, “Don’t be shocked if Ukraine does well at the Euros.” “We’ve ascended to a position where we enjoy widespread respect. We can achieve anything in Germany. I can’t restrict our options for where to go. We have a great chance to win this competition, and I’m prepared for it.”
