Children frequently follow in their parents’ professional footsteps, and this is also true in the realm of sports. In the boxing world, Chris Eubank and his son, Jr., and Nigel Benn and his son, Conor, have maintained a feud across several generations, while football players Peter and Kasper Schmeichel, both Premier League winners, have more than 100 Danish caps.
However, it is uncommon to witness a well-known athlete’s offspring pursue a different sport, but Arsenal’s newest addition appears to be one such instance.
The Arsenal academy has welcomed the son of a former heavyweight and cruiserweight world champion, who will play for the under-13 team. Naturally, having a father who has participated at the highest level of a sport will be very beneficial, even though there is still a long way to go before succeeding in the football world.
The latest recruit from Arsenal Academy, who joins the renowned Hale End, is the son of a boxing legend.
After impressing coaches with his abilities on the pitch and his listening skills off it, Kingston Haye, son of former unified cruiserweight and WBA heavyweight champion David Haye, has joined the Gunners.

David defeated the colossal Nikolai Valuev to win the heavyweight title, and he held the belt twice before falling short against Wladimir Klitschko on points. Before suffering consecutive losses against Tony Bellew, he carried on with his career for a few more years. After that, he turned to boxing promotion, helping to revive the career of his erstwhile rival Derek Chisora.
It is to be hoped that Kingston’s football career will be guided by his father’s expertise in the sport. Even though he has a long way to go before becoming a professional football player, he will benefit from being a member of such a prominent academy and having the appropriate people by his side.
From Tony Adams, Ray Parlour, and Ashley Cole in the past to current Arsenal greats Emile Smith Rowe, Serge Gnabry of Bayern Munich, and Bukayo Saka, the academy has been a breeding ground for Premier League talent. It will be interesting to see if Kingston is the next superstar to come off Hale End’s conveyor belt, which has a reputation for identifying and developing some of the best players in the world.
