In the wake of the offensive chant directed at Jean-Philippe Mateta, Millwall is being investigated by the Football Association (FA) for yet another chant directed at Crystal Palace.
Following their loss to Palace by a score of 3-1, Millwall was eliminated from the FA Cup competition. Palace secured their place in the subsequent round of the competition on Saturday.
The team from the Premier League took the lead thanks to Japhet Tanganga (OG), and then Daniel Munoz doubled his team’s advantage.
Immediately prior to the break, Wes Harding made a reduction in the deficit.
In the second half, Eddie Nketiah scored a goal to take Palace back into a two-goal lead.
However, the match at Selhurst Park was marred by the injury that Mateta sustained. He was injured after a nasty collision with Millwall custodian Liam Roberts, and he was forced to be stretchered off.
After a review by the video assistant referee, Mateta was eliminated by Roberts, who was then shown a red card.
Jonathan Pearce, a commentator for the BBC, voiced his disapproval of the chants that Millwall supporters were directing at Mateta, who was taken to the hospital for immediate medical attention after being kicked in the head.
The foul chant, on the other hand, will not be investigated by the FA because it does not violate any regulations.
Nevertheless, according to Alex Howell, a reporter for the BBC, the Football Association will look into a second chant that was directed at Ben Chilwell earlier.
‘Chelsea rent boy’ chants from Millwall fans, which were directed at Chilwell, who is currently on loan at Palace from the Stamford Bridge club, will be investigated by the Football Association (FA).
During the January transfer window, Chilwell, who is 28 years old, made his debut for Palace in their match against Millwall. Chilwell initially joined Palace from Chelsea on loan for the remainder of the season.
In his remarks following the victory of his team, Oliver Glasner provided an update on Mateta while simultaneously describing Roberts’ challenge as “terrible.”
“He is conscious and located in the hospital,” he stated to the BBC. It is a very serious injury, and his ear appears to be in a terrible state.
“Our best wishes are with him in every way. Check it out. Things aren’t going so well for us today.
When you lose a player, especially with a foul like this one, you have two different feelings in your stomach. It’s a great win, and it’s great to go into the quarterfinals, but when you lose a player, you have two different feelings.
I was not interested in watching it, but since we are going to have to discuss it, I went ahead and did so.
It’s a huge problem. There is no player who would want to hurt JP, and I am certain that the custodian did not want to do so.
It is impossible to achieve success if you approach the ball in such a manner, with the intensity of your foot, at this height.
“Don’t even think about it. Even though I don’t want to point the finger at him, it was a terrible foul.
