Mikel Arteta’s telling response when asked about Aaron Ramsdale after David Raya heroics

This summer, Mikel Arteta startled many Arsenal fans by opting to sell Aaron Ramsdale and replace him with David Raya as the team’s primary goalkeeper. However, the decision seems to have been a masterstroke.

Mikel Arteta asserts that David Raya’s exceptional Arsenal performance is not a recent development, as evidenced by his Champions League triumphs.

At the Emirates Stadium, the Spaniard is arguably in the best shape of his life. Last month, he was awarded the Premier League Save of the Month for his save against Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa.

Subsequently, Raya executed an extraordinary double save in Arsenal’s Champions League opener against Atalanta. He denied Mateo Retegui from the penalty spot and then made a lunge across his line to deflect the Italian’s goal-bound header on the rebound.

When asked whether Raya is now at ease with his new role as the club’s primary goalkeeper following Aaron Ramsdale’s departure to Southampton, Arsenal manager Arteta maintains that Raya has consistently performed in this manner.During his post-match press conference, he stated, “That is a question for him.” There is no doubt that the previous year was quite remarkable. Absolutely, regardless of the distinct context. He has been exceptional this season.

“The saves he made against Villa and today kept us in the game.” At this level, it is imperative that the goalkeeper possess this quality. I am exceedingly pleased that he is currently in that state.

Arteta responded, “I am uncertain.” when asked whether Raya was the world’s greatest goalkeeper at the moment. I have not observed any other goalkeepers; however, he has been exceptional for us at the present.

Raya will undoubtedly endeavor to sustain his exceptional performance for Arsenal this weekend. In what has already been referred to as a potential early title decider, the Gunners will face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
However, the Spanish goalkeeper has asserted that his save against Atalanta was somewhat fortuitous prior to the contest. After the final whistle, he stated to TNT Sports, “I was fortunate to go the right way and save the penalty.”

“I was unlucky to allow the rebound to fall directly to him; however, I was able to recover and save the ball.” It is an honor to maintain a spotless record and assist the team in securing a point.

Raya further elaborated, “I believe that everyone has contributed to his form, including the players, staff, and fans, and their confidence in me.” Additionally, Arsenal’s goalkeeping instructor, Inaki, is exceedingly optimistic regarding my abilities. I am obligated to fulfill the expectations of the club, the supporters, and all others. “I am currently in a favorable state; although I have areas in which to improve, I am in a good mood.”
