Middlesbrough Appoint Highly-Rated Former Chelsea Youth Coach and Coventry City Assistant Adi Viveash as Interim Manager Following Rob Edwards’ Departure to Wolves.

Under then-Middlesbrough manager Rob Edwards, Viveash joined Boro in the summer as a member of a revamped coaching staff.
However, earlier this week, Edwards departed the Riverside club to take a position as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers, a struggling team in the Premier League.

“Rob Edwards has now formally resigned his post as head coach after agreeing to a contract with Wolves,” the club said in a statement.

“Rob had committed to a three-year deal with us in the summer, but when he expressed his want to join Wolves, we grudgingly came to an agreement on a salary for him and Harry Watling, one of his first team coaches.

You could sense the unity that is at the heart of our club last Saturday as all Riverside members—players, staff, and supporters—came together as one. To everyone involved, we would want to say thank you.

“Adi Viveash took charge of team affairs last Saturday and will continue to do so during the interim period.”

Edwards was benched from Boro’s game against Birmingham City last weekend due to the rumors surrounding him.

Viveash was then put in charge, and the 56-year-old led Boro to a 2-1 triumph that moved the team up to second place in the Championship standings.

Viveash abruptly left Coventry in July 2024 after serving as Mark Robins’ deputy manager for seven years.

He formerly coached Chelsea’s youth for nine years, winning two UEFA Youth League crowns and three consecutive FA Youth Cup finals.
