Middlesbrough accuse Wolves of violating Premier League rules as Rob Edwards’ move approaches.

Middlesbrough has accused Wolves of breaking Premier League rules with their approach for manager Rob Edwards.

According to John Percy, the Championship side has condemned the top flight club for failing to meet expectations.

The 42-year-old’s future has been the subject of much conjecture this week, following Vitor Pereira’s firing at Molineux.

Edwards played for the club for four years and previously worked as an interim manager, thus he has significant ties to the organization.

He was only appointed as Middlesbrough manager in the summer, replacing Michael Carrick, and he has been praised for the club’s impressive start to the season.

Middlesbrough accuse Wolves of breaching Premier League rules.

Middlesbrough have reportedly accused Wolves of violating Premier League laws governing the approach of possible managers.

The Teesside club has chastised their top-flight rivals amid rumors that Edwards might replace Pereira.

“Unfortunately, Wolves have behaved at a lower standard than we expect, and we believe their conduct violates Premier League regulations,” Middlesbrough said, via John Percy on X.

Sky Sports reports that Edwards has been relieved of his duties as Boro manager for Saturday’s game against Birmingham City.

It is unclear whether he will return to the club, but with the international break coming up, Middlesbrough will have some time to sort things out.

Edwards’ pre-match press conference for the Blues game was canceled on Friday, generating additional speculation over his future at the Riverside, and according to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Boro are now resigned to losing their manager after less than six months in the role.

It has been stated that the former Luton Town manager did not attend training, with the former Wales international defender – who was previously the under-18s manager and first-team coach at Wolves – emerging as the front-runner to take over at Molineux.

The Midlands club is in danger of relegation after a terrible start, so they are looking to bring Edwards in to avoid the drop.

Middlesbrough requires an immediate resolution to Rob Edwards’ predicament, which is becoming increasingly complicated.

Edwards’ relationship with Middlesbrough is at risk of deteriorating, making it difficult for him to stay as manager if he does not take over at Wolves.

The 42-year-old is clearly open to returning to Molineux, and the opportunity to work in the Premier League again will be quite appealing.

Given Wolves’ terrible start and generally weak roster, the prospect of relegation is suddenly quite real, but Middlesbrough’s promotion push is also not guaranteed.

Supporters will be sad if he leaves after their great start to the season, but the accusation of a rule violation adds toxicity that could backfire on the Championship club.
