Michail Antonio Shares Footage of Himself Learning to Walk Again After Horror Crash

Michail Antonio, a 35-year-old striker for West Ham United, received a ton of love and support after sharing a video on Instagram showing him learning to walk following his near-fatal automobile accident that ended his season early.

Following a traffic collision in the Essex region in December 2024, the striker’s employers verified that he was in a “stable condition.” At a hospital in central London, the seasoned center-forward continued to be closely monitored.

Firefighters had to remove Antonio, a former Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest player, from his £260,000 Ferrari. He has since shared a video of his inspirational road back to full fitness, which he hopes will allow him to resume his favorite activity in the future.

The Hammers star had a terrifying accident when he struck a tree in Epping Forest on his way home from his team’s Rush Green training base. That same evening, he had surgery to repair his shattered leg.

Antonio announced his plans to return to the field in March. “I’m at least three months ahead of schedule. In an interview with BBC One, he stated, “I’m trying to do other things and just focus on myself. I’ve lifted 130kg on the leg.”

Antonio has now shared video of his arduous recuperation process, with the caption, “Faith will overcome all challenges.” Before video of the Jamaican learning to walk appeared, the scene opened with a picture of the crash wreckage and showed him laying in a hospital bed.

In order to take his first steps, the frontman first needed to use a walking frame while being assisted by nurses. Before a video of him using crutches to enter the club gym, there was also heartwarming footage of a bunch of West Ham players by his bedside.

Antonio, who has had the club’s assistance the entire way, is seen gritting his teeth as he performs exercises to build muscle in both legs. His return to first team training marked the end of the heartwarming montage of his return to normal life.

The moments at London Stadium, West Ham’s home stadium, where he was introduced to the home crowd in March, just months after his near-fatal accident, were the most touching part of it all.

As Antonio looks to return to the field, Declan Rice of Arsenal, who played with the striker in east London, and several other professionals have sent words of support. Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek, who are personally acquainted with the striker, also made remarks.

Although Antonio’s contract with the Premier League team is now scheduled to expire this summer, according to Mail Online, club executives are rumored to have extended it to allow him to recover.
