According to reports, Marcus Rashford has indicated that he is “open” to a move to Barcelona after the La Liga powerhouses contacted Manchester United about a loan deal with a summer purchase option.
The likelihood that Rashford will leave United in the future is growing. The former academy star may soon quit his boyhood club after more than 400 games and more than 200 direct goal contributions.
After being left out of the squad to play Manchester City, a rival that United defeated 2-1, Rashford made it known that he wanted to find a new challenge. He therefore skipped the trip to play Tottenham in the quarterfinal of the League Cup.
According to FootballTransfers, the La Liga powerhouses have contacted United in an attempt to sign their attacker on loan in January, suggesting that a big move to Barcelona may be imminent.
In the summer, they would then be able to purchase Rashford for £35 million (€42.1 million/$44 million).
The attacker reportedly “is keen on the move” after learning of Barcelona’s interest.
Everyone goes on loan to Rashford
Rashford is ready to leave England, and Spain is a place that appeals to him, TEAMtalk knows.
According to a later source, United will accept a loan move in January since they are keen to get him out of the door.
The Red Devils, however, are unwilling to allow Rashford to join another English team, which strengthens the case for the move to Barcelona.
Given their well-documented financial difficulties, which may even prevent them from signing summer acquisition Dani Olmo for the second half of the season, a loan is obviously the best option for them.
Given how high Rashford’s wages are, it is unclear if it would prevent them from paying him.
Because of their current circumstances, it doesn’t seem likely that Barca will be able to sign the United player permanently in the summer, but things could change before then.
Round-up in Barcelona: Alexander-Arnold transfer desired
Barcelona is interested in Trent Alexander-Arnold in addition to the possible Rashford target.
According to reports, they are “seriously” interested in him and have discussed internally how to finance a deal for the Liverpool player.
In the meantime, Barca may lose a star to Liverpool. According to reports, the Reds have requested information on Gavi, who may decide to leave the team if his playing time does not increase following his ACL injury.
According to sources, Premier League powerhouse Arsenal will try to sign attacking midfielder Olmo on a free transfer if he is unable to be registered for the second half of the season.
