Marti Cifuentes’ work as Leicester City manager has been under continual scrutiny since the moment he arrived at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester City has had a rough season since their return to the Championship.
The former Premier League winners from less than a decade ago are now hovering about the middle of the table, with their chances of returning to the top level seeming slimmer with each passing game week.
The Foxes will face a point deduction this season due to alleged breaches of profit and sustainability laws, which had a significant impact on their summer window, as they were unable to buy a player for a fee and had to rely on loans and free transfers instead.
Nonetheless, the opinion is that Cifuentes has failed to get the best out of excellent players like Stephy Mavididi, Abdul Fatawu, Ricardo Pereira, and Harry Winks this season, and he may lose his job sooner rather than later if form does not improve.
Having said that, Football League World has identified two prospective candidates for the Spaniard in the Leicester dugout should he be fired.
Ralph Hasenhuttl

Ralph Hasenhuttl will be recognizable to many English football fans, since the Austrian spent nearly four years in charge of Southampton in the Premier League.
Hasenhuttl took over for former QPR and Stoke City manager Mark Hughes in December 2018, and in his first six months in command, he led the Saints to 16th position in the Premier League.
The Austrian manager would become well-known for his desire to play a high-pressing style of football, which would eventually lead to his downfall.
During his time at Southampton, his team suffered two 9-0 defeats, one to Manchester United and the other, ironically, to Leicester. Hasenhuttl would be fired in November 2022, his stint on the South Coast best remembered for those two devastating defeats.
Since then, the Austrian has been out of work after spending 14 months as head coach of German Bundesliga club VFL Wolfsburg from March 2024 to May 2025.
It remains to be seen if he would consider a move to the English second tier, especially given Leicester’s current financial constraints, but he may be a great signing for the Foxes if they can persuade him to make the switch.
Will Still

Will Still, a former Southampton manager, has been without a club since his dismissal in early November 2025.
The 33-year-old has established himself as one of the most promising emerging coaches in world football, thanks to his work with Beerschot in Belgium, as well as Stade Reims and Lens in France.
With Reims, it became well-known that the French club was had to pay a £22,000 fine each time Still took charge of a game for the club, as he did not have a UEFA Pro License at the time.
He would join Southampton after their relegation from the top level, and he was seen as the man who could lead them back to the top division at the first opportunity, but this would not be true.
Despite winning just four of his 16 games in charge at St Mary’s, he was quickly fired with the club hovering just above the relegation zone.
Still may feel he has much to prove at Championship level, and having worked under challenging conditions in Belgium and France, he could be an ideal candidate for the Leicester post.
