Just after making his debut in the Champions League for Aston Villa, Marcus Rashford posted a message on his Instagram account that contained twelve words and summed up exactly why he left Manchester United.
As a result of Ruben Amorim’s criticism of Rashford’s performance in training and his consistent exclusion from matchday squads, Rashford found himself in a position which was not favourable.
In November, Rashford played his final game for United, which was a Europa League match against Viktoria Plzen. Since then, he has expressed an interest in taking on a new challenge away from the club that he has identified as his boyhood club.
As a result of Jhon Duran’s transfer to Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia for a fee of 62.5 million pounds, Villa came in for the England international and signed him on loan until the end of the season. They also gave him the No. 9 shirt.
The new manager, Unai Emery, has given Rashford a fresh start, as evidenced by the fact that he has contributed three assists in his first seven appearances. The 27-year-old has always appeared to be in top form whenever he has played for Villa, and on Tuesday night, he was a significant contributor to the Midlands club’s victory over Club Brugge in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 match.
Maxim De Cuyper scored at the end of the first half to cancel out Leon Bailey’s opening goal. However, with the assistance of Tyrone Mings’ incredible goal-line clearance, Villa was able to score late in the second half with an own goal from Brandon Mechele and a penalty kick from Marco Asensio.
In Bruges, after the final whistle blew, Rashford took to Instagram to post a message that read, “Champions League Nights.” It was clear that he was enjoying the victory under the spotlights. We are currently at the halfway point! We’ll catch up with you the following week.
Although Rashford has participated in the Europa League on six separate occasions on Thursday evenings, he is now participating in the most prestigious club competition in Europe once more.
A member of the Villa team has lauded Rashford.
John McGinn, the captain of Villa, has been impressed by Rashford and Asensio’s work-rate and performances, who have added another dimension to Villa’s attack. Amorim, on the other hand, has criticised Rashford for not applying himself to the game.
“They’ve been a breath of fresh air, three really good guys, obviously come with big reputations but they haven’t shown any ego,” McGinn told the television network TNT Sports.
In order to get their careers back on track, they put in a lot of effort, and they are relatively low maintenance.
They obviously weren’t playing at their clubs, so what we can do for them is provide them with a platform to do that and be happy. In exchange, all we ask of them is to be a good teammate, to work hard, to do the things that we’ve all been doing over the past couple of seasons, and to demonstrate their quality. They’ve proven to be outstanding.
It has been reported by Fabrizio Romano that Villa has the ability to acquire Rashford on a permanent basis for a price of forty million pounds. His contract would be for three and a half years if he were to be activated.
