Marcus Rashford made his debut for Aston Villa against Liverpool on Wednesday night.
Fans have criticised Marcus Rashford for what he did before Trent Alexander-Arnold scored for Liverpool against Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
Rashford made his first start since coming on loan from Manchester United in the January transfer window, following two good cameos against Spurs and Ipswich Town.
Liverpool took the lead 1-0 thanks to the talismanic Mo Salah, but Villa responded with goals from Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins towards the end of the first half.
The Premier League leaders drew level through Alexander-Arnold, but many fans blamed Rashford for the goal.
Alexander-Arnold fired a shot from the edge of the box in acres of space shortly after the hour mark. Nonetheless, Rashford was chastised for jogging back and failing to complete his defensive duties by tracking the right-back.
Rashford was chastised for failing to put in a defensive shift for United, and many believe this latest incident demonstrated why the club was correct to transfer him.

One fan said: “Rashford’s looked fantastic today but there’s the disadvantage of him, not tracking back, having time to mark Trent as well.
A different individual responded: “Just look at Rashford not tracking back and giving Trent yards of space.”
A third person continued: “Look at rashford strolling back, he could have marked trent and prevented the goal.”
A fourth commented, “I’m not surprised Rashford was pulled off the pitch after Trent’s goal.” That attitude he just demonstrated while walking back is exactly why his United career is done!”
A user commented, “I hope you’re watching Rashford as much as I am.” Trent ran past him and scored as he was jogging back.”
In fact, both Rashford and Alexander-Arnold were hooked shortly after the equaliser, and their duel was over quickly.
The spoils were split at Villa Park, with Liverpool leading the standings by eight points after playing one more game than Arsenal.
Villa are currently tenth in the Premier League, four points behind fifth-placed Bournemouth and five behind fourth-placed Manchester City.
Unai Emery’s squad returns to action on Saturday, hosting Chelsea in another crucial home game.
