Manchester United sent message to Thomas Tuchel before he agreed England job

Before Thomas Tuchel accepted the position of England manager, Manchester United made it quite plain to him that he would be at the top of their list in the event that they decided to replace Erik ten Hag.

The individual who has previously held managerial positions at Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain has achieved a consensus to become the next permanent manager of England.

It came as a bit of a surprise when it was announced on Tuesday that the 51-year-old would be taking over as the permanent successor for Gareth Southgate. Other candidates, like as interim manager Lee Carsley, Eddie Howe, and even Pep Guardiola, were previously mentioned as being more plausible candidates.

Additionally, since leaving Bayern Munich at the conclusion of the previous season, Tuchel has been extensively connected with the possibility of returning to club management.

Manchester United, in particular, has shown a significant amount of interest in his talents, and discussions between the two clubs took place over the course of the summer.

Due to the fact that they were unable to come to an agreement, the Red Devils made the decision to extend the contract of Erik ten Hag, who is now serving as manager.

Since then, however, that choice has been called into question due to the fact that Manchester United has had a terrible start to the season. They are now ranked fourteenth in the Premier League after seven games, with only two victories and five goals scored thus far in the top division.

It has been reported by The Times that Old Trafford’s interest in the player has not diminished, despite the fact that negotiations could not be reached during the summer.

According to the article, “in recent weeks Tuchel was made aware” that if Ten Hag were to be let go, United would consider him to be their first candidate to take his position as the team’s manager.

It was obvious that Tuchel was not prepared to wait around for whatever the Red Devils were going to give, and he is now on the verge of being announced as the next England manager on a contract that is worth £5 million per year.

On an 18-month contract, the new manager will take over in January 2025, and he will be responsible for leading England into the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in Canada, the United States of America, and Mexico.

It is also stated in the story from The Times that AC Milan had an interest in acquiring Tuchel, who was obviously not lacking in choices prior to accepting the offer from the FA.
