Manchester United players warned ‘only one is safe’ under Ruben Amorim

The new manager of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim, has issued a warning to the team’s underperforming players, informing them that only the captain is likely to be considered “safe.”

The manager of Sporting Lisbon is expected to assume his position at Old Trafford shortly after completing his obligations with the club.

In midweek, Amorim piqued the interest of United supporters by orchestrating Sporting’s remarkable 4-1 Champions League victory over Manchester City.

Upon his arrival, the 39-year-old will be obliged to operate with the resources at his disposal for the duration of the season, as the squad is imbalanced and lacking in confidence.

Sporting goal machine Viktor Gyokeres, who has flourished under Amorim’s leadership, has already been the subject of speculation regarding a potential transfer to United. However, it is unlikely that a deal for the Sweden international will be completed until at least January.

In the interim, United’s current roster of players will be eager to make an immediate impact. However, former Arsenal player Paul Merson is concerned that Fernandes is the sole player who is likely to be guaranteed a prominent role in Amorim’s ideal first XI.

Merson declined to provide an answer when asked by Sky Sports regarding the number of players Amorim could potentially consider selling. “I cannot, as you could potentially specify seven or eight,” he stated.

‘They lack wing-backs, and I observe Rashford and Garnacho and wonder where they will be deployed.

‘The two centre forwards they possess are not the type of centre forward that he desires; they are not capable of maintaining the game and allowing all players to participate in a chaotic front.

“I only perceive Fernandes as the one who is secure for me.” He will be positioned behind the No. 10 position and is capable of playing the game. He is of Portuguese descent; therefore, he will recognise him.

“The task is extremely challenging; there is an abundance of hard work to be done.” This is a distinct league, and the league in which they compete is a completely different realm. You are required to win each and every game when you arrive at Old Trafford.

Merson is certain that Amorim is the ideal candidate for the position, despite his critical evaluation of United’s playing staff.
