United’s summer transfer activities appear to be far from over.
Manchester United have established a transfer wishlist of three more players to target in addition to Carlos Baleba, according to reports.
United began negotiations with Brighton midfielder Baleba’s agents earlier this week and are allegedly planning a bid for the Cameroon international.
The Seagulls do not want to sell, and it is unclear whether United will match Fabian Hurzeler’s asking price of roughly £120 million.
Brighton can use Moises Caicedo’s £115 million sale to Chelsea in 2023 as a benchmark.
According to The Independent, United manager Ruben Amorim is ‘pushing’ the club’s leadership to sign Baleba, his main priority, before the transfer market ends on September 1.
Furthermore, it is believed that the club is developing a payment plan to launch an offer while also identifying three other prospective targets.
United’s shortlist includes Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, Atalanta’s Ederson, and Sporting’s Morten Hjulmand.
Wharton would arguably be the most difficult signing to make, considering Palace’s qualification for European football this season and his own estimated value of £100 million.
Marc Guehi, his England international teammate and club captain, could leave the Eagles, as Liverpool is in talks to recruit the centre back.
According to Sky Sports, Guehi is happy to stay at Palace this summer but will speak with Liverpool if an offer is accepted, with his contract set to expire next summer, leaving him a free agent in any case.
Rumours have also circulated over the future of Eagles midfielder Eberechi Eze, who is attracting attention from both Arsenal and Tottenham.
Ederson, meanwhile, has been linked with United for several seasons and is an important player for Atalanta in Serie A.
The 26-year-old joins Atalanta in 2022 after making his international debut with Brazil previous season.
Hjulmand, meanwhile, worked under Amorim at Sporting Lisbon, but The Independent reports that there are reservations about his physical ability to play in the Premier League.
