Man Utd tipped to sign Ethan Nwaneri in shock move from Arsenal as ‘tug-of-war’ claim made

In a move that would shock the Premier League, Manchester United is predicted to make a surprise approach for Arsenal wonderkid Ethan Nwaneri.

One of the best young players in English football, Nwaneri made 37 appearances for Arsenal last season.

Although it was anticipated that he will sign a new long-term extension with the Gunners this summer, his contract was set to expire at the end of the following season.

According to the BBC, his new contract would extend his tenure at the Emirates for an additional five years, making him one of the highest paid young players in European sport.

Rene Meulensteen, the former first-team coach at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson for a number of years, thinks Nwaneri might be persuaded to join the Red Devils at Old Trafford, like other former Arsenal players have done in previous years.

“Ayden Heaven seems like a smart business move, and it’s interesting that there is a pathway of players moving from Arsenal to Manchester United with Chido Obi another one,” Meulensteen remarked in an interview with Grosvenor Casinos.

“United moved quickly, and we’ve seen these players succeed. They had a solid education, but for whatever reason they didn’t see a path ahead at their specific club.

It’s intriguing that other Arsenal players have shown interest in United; Ethan Nwaneri might be another.

“What I would say on Nwaneri, I think there will be a bit more of a tug-of-war going on and more financial demands than with those two.”

How are Chido Obi and Ayden Heaven doing at Manchester United?
Following their transfers from Arsenal to Manchester United last season, Heaven and Chido Obi have both been given first-team opportunities at Old Trafford.

Heaven made six games and made an impression until an injury ended his season.

Chido Obi appeared active when utilised as a substitute, despite the fact that he did not score in his eight games.

In a 3-1 victory over Hong Kong during United’s postseason trip, the 17-year-old Dane scored his first goals as a senior, and Heaven also scored.

Both players have made significant appearances in United’s opening two preseason games against West Ham and Leeds this summer, indicating how highly Ruben Amorim regards them.

But since there isn’t any European football this season, there might not be as many opportunities.

Heaven will face competition from Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, and even Leny Yoro for the position of left-sided centre back.

Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund are vying for a slot up front against Chido Obi.

However, United is keen to get a new striker and is still active during the summer transfer window.

If Nwaneri does make the improbable switch, he will have an easy route to the United first team.
