Man Utd Sent Worrying Benjamin Sesko Warning as Striker ‘Decides to Join Red Devils’

Prior to this summer’s transfer window, Manchester United needed to address their goalscoring issues. The club’s top target is Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig, although former Chelsea midfielder Andy Townsend has warned Ruben Amorim about the Slovenian striker.

Amorim’s Red Devils have put in their initial proposal of €75 million plus €10 million in add-ons for Sesko, who was admired by Arsenal earlier in the summer window and is also being pursued by Newcastle United.

Although Ben Jacobs of GIVEMESPORT has revealed that Sesko’s favourite destination is Old Trafford, that is now less than the price Newcastle has offered for the 22-year-old. He posted on X, saying, “Understand Benjamin Sesko has made it clear this evening he wants to join Manchester United.”

Townsend Warns Manchester United About Benjamin Sesko
Last season, the Slovenian striker made 43 appearances for Leipzig and scored 21 goals.

As previously mentioned, Jacobs thinks Manchester United assumes the 41-cap Slovenian international is waiting for them. His Bundesliga employers currently own it; since the summer of 2023, he has scored 39 goals for them in 87 games.

“The biggest thing about him to start is that he’s 6’5″, Townsend remarked of Sesko’s potential contributions to the Old Trafford team, who placed 15th in the Premier League in 2024–2025. However, he isn’t a 6’5” target guy who just holds it up and knocks things back to those who are close to him.

“Not all strikers are gifted with that; he’s a very, very technical football player who looks very two-footed and has a lovely technique to strike a ball very sweetly.”

He did, however, point out a possible disadvantage with the £74 million man. He stated, “I do not believe he will be the most prolific that we have seen on these shores.” However, if you consider his Bundesliga record as well as his European performances and cups, he consistently scores 20+ points per season. He is also a very young man—he is 22 years old.

He certainly appears to be fast enough. He’s technically incredibly talented, but it’s debatable how aggressive he is and how aggressive he needs to be. Townsend ended. The 2003-born talisman made 45 appearances in all competitions in 2024–2025 alone, tallying 21 goals and six assists. But it’s unclear if his strength will translate to the Premier League.

Given Rasmus Hojlund’s failure to live up to expectations, Manchester United will be mindful of the dangers of bringing in a young striker once more. However, Sesko has far more experience than the Dane did when he joined. Additionally, the signing of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha will increase final third output.
