Man Utd sent major Benjamin Sesko warning by Sir Alex Ferguson’s right-hand man

The 22-year-old Sesko has recently been connected to Manchester United and Newcastle.

The former assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson has expressed his reservations over Benjamin Sesko joining Manchester United from RB Leipzig.

Both Newcastle and Manchester United have expressed interest in Sesko, 22, with both Premier League teams submitting proposals for the Slovenian forward in recent days.

According to a story by The Guardian on August 4, the Magpies have submitted a second bid of £69.7 million, which could increase to £75 million with add-ons.

Then, on August 5, Man United made their own bid, which contained a £65.2 million guarantee and increased to a potential £73.8 million.

The RB Leipzig forward has reportedly expressed his desire to join both clubs, according to reports from the German publication BILD.

On August 6, The Athletic provided an update on the subject, stating that although Newcastle appears willing to pay a greater price and offer Champions League football, Man United is “closing in” on a deal for the 22-year-old.

Even though the forward scored 21 goals in all competitions last season, not all Red Devils supporters are convinced, despite the enthusiasm from some quarters of the team.

In an interview with Poker Strategy.com, former United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen, Ferguson’s assistant from 2008 to 2013, was unreserved in his criticism of the potential Sesko deal.

“Manchester United essentially did the same thing with Rasmus Hojlund with their bid for Benjamin Sesko,” Meulentseen stated.

“He might be the club’s solution if he scores in the first three or four games and gets off to a quick start, but that might not happen.

In the case of Hojlund, he joined Atalanta, played well with the squad, and then joined United. Sesko will also need to adjust because the Bundesliga and the Premier League are completely different leagues.

“Is there promise in Sesko? 100%, but he isn’t the full product yet; he is still young and growing.

“I consider someone like Ollie Watkins who might be available,” he continued. He is a dedicated player who shares Sesko’s physical attributes, but he has invaluable Premier League experience already. Additionally, I believe Sesko would likely be more expensive than Watkins.

“Why doesn’t the team nurture Hojlund by bringing in Watkins and letting the coaches work closely with him? Otherwise, it’s a waste of money because, unless he improves, they risk selling him for less than half of the £80 million they paid for him.
