Using Jason Wilcox’s network of contacts, Manchester United can begin the first summer transfer window of the INEOS era by acquiring a cheap addition. As a free agent after June 30, Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo is reportedly interested in joining the Red Devils.

Under the recently established football hierarchy, which is led by co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and advisers Sir Dave Brailsford and Jean-Claude Blanc, Wilcox is currently the club’s most powerful person.

He is currently waiting for his colleagues to arrive after leaving his position as Southampton’s sporting director to take on the role of technical director at United last month.

On July 13, Omar Berrada, the new chief executive, will return from his gardening leave at Manchester City.

In the meantime, in an effort to begin serving as Newcastle United’s sporting director as soon as possible, Dan Ashworth has taken the team to arbitration.

Wilcox will lead going into the summer in the absence of the two, and United is supposedly eager to sign a player he knows well.

When Adarabioyo’s contract with Fulham expires on June 30, ESPN reports that United is interested in signing him.

The M16 powerhouses are planning a center-back makeover, as Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans are anticipated to depart as free agents on the same day.

Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are also nearing the end of their contracts, and it’s likely that one or both of them will leave.

According to the report, United’s interest is being matched by Chelsea, Newcastle, and Tottenham Hotspur; however, Wilcox has an exceptional bond with Adarabioyo.

The 26-year-old is well-known to Wilcox because he was a member of Manchester City’s academy before moving on to Southampton to become their sporting director.

Adarabioyo left the Etihad Stadium for Fulham in 2020 after on-loan stints at West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers.

He would be a great squad option on a free transfer, having made 20 Premier League appearances for the Cottagers this season.

For the past ten years, United has had success with free transfers. Following his reunion with Jose Mourinho, Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals and provided 10 assists in 46 games during the 2016–17 campaign.

In 2020, Edinson Cavani joined and cheered up the United supporters during the lockdown. The legendary Uruguayan scored 17 goals in 39 games during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s rookie campaign.

Furthermore, before having a small role this season, Christian Eriksen was essential to Erik ten Hag’s successful first season in charge.

Adarabioyo might be the next unrestricted free agent to sign and assist in improving a position that has been problematic during this difficult campaign.
