Man Utd make Amad contract call after star makes feelings on future clear

Manchester United intends to extend Amad’s contract in the forthcoming months due to the winger’s promising performance at the season’s outset.

The 22-year-old Ivory Coast international was awarded United’s Player of the Month for August following a successful conclusion to the previous season, however he has commenced the last year of the contract he signed in the summer of 2020.

Manchester United possesses a one-year option that would inhibit Amad from departing as a free agency next summer. However, it appears their first choice is to establish new terms prior to the New Year.

A recent report from The Manchester Evening News indicates that United is anticipated to begin discussions in the forthcoming months.

It is also asserted that they will activate the clause in Amad’s contract if an agreement is not established before January, since he would then be permitted to negotiate with any foreign teams.

Amad transferred to United from Rangers for £37 million and has become a significant component of the club’s future strategy after demonstrating his capabilities on a season-long loan at Sunderland in the Championship during the 2022/23 season.

The winger playfully said during the club’s summer pre-season tour that he would be satisfied to remain at Old Trafford indefinitely. He answered, “Indeed, why not?” I am really content here. I believe everyone is content with me due to my kind demeanour and positive energy. Why not reside here for the whole of my life?

Amad sustained a knee injury during last year’s pre-season, resulting in a five-month absence, but Erik ten Hag assured him that the current season would be distinct.

The winger stated, “Sustaining an injury during last season’s pre-season was challenging for me.” I was absent for an extended period, but the primary objective was to return with more strength, to assist the squad, and ultimately, I was satisfied with my participation. I acknowledge that I had limited playing time last season.

This season is poised to be advantageous for everybody, fostering motivation to commence. The manager and I engaged in a constructive dialogue, during which he expressed commendatory remarks towards me.

I have faith in the manager. Last season, I did not play extensively, but I anticipate positive outcomes this season. The manager is perceived by everybody as a commendable individual. I converse with him, and he instills considerable confidence in me.
