After rumors that he was unhappy about not playing enough minutes this season, Leon Goretzka’s relationship appears to be flourishing as Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany declared that the squad “loves” him.
Goretzka has only made 10 appearances for Bayern this year. After winning three straight league games and crushing Dinamo Zagreb 9-2 in their Champions League opening, the Bundesliga’s biggest clubs were on a high.
Consequently, it appears that there is some dissatisfaction, as rumors have it that Goretzka is not satisfied with his position.
Nonetheless, Kompany has made an effort to mend the rift by demonstrating the midfielder’s importance to his team.
“He is and will always be significant to us. He is adored by the squad, Kompany told DAZN.
Only those who are willing to participate and deal with competition for spots are on my roster. It’s always simple to discuss specific players at Bayern. But the team is important to me, therefore I want to talk about it.
“In this squad, he is crucial. Well, he’s doing, but the others are too.
Man Utd is monitoring Goretzka.
Goretzka’s reputed importance to the Bayern team may provide challenges for Manchester United.
They have recently been connected to him, and it was mentioned that he was unhappy with his playing time at Bayern, which would have been perfect for them.
In fact, if he hadn’t been scheduled to play in Germany, they may have taken advantage of the chance to sign him.
Even though he has only played 10 minutes and scored once in the five games Bayern have played so far, he isn’t very useful right now, but it appears Kompany wants him to stay because the season is still young and full of opportunities.
More midfield misses for Man Utd
Goretzka’s departure from United will be the second midfield player loss in as many games, following Adrien Rabiot’s transfer to Marseille.
Rabiot’s mother, the midfielder’s agent, has been called “incompetent” since the player was unable to sign with a major European league.
Karim Adeyemi, a talented player for Borussia Dortmund, is reportedly on United’s radar and may be tough for the Bundesliga team to retain.
Martin Baturina, the player for Dinamo Zagreb who is also desired by Real Madrid, is another player that United is after.
There seems to be optimism that the Red Devils can sign a player before their European competitors.
Goretzka’s short playing career
So far this season, 22 players have made appearances for Bayern. With his 10, Goretzka has played the fewest minutes out of the 22.
Although Manuel Neuer is the preferred starting goalkeeper, Sven Ulreich has played 45 minutes.
Five midfielders have appeared in more games this season than Goretzka.
Joshua Kimmich has not missed a minute of action, and Aleksandar Pavlovic and Jamal Musiala have combined for almost 300 minutes of play.
After then, Konrad Laimer has played 42 minutes and Joao Palhinha has played 119. Goretzka’s chances of getting regular minutes appear to be limited given Bayern’s current performance.
His goal in the nine-minute Champions League cameo cannot have hurt him; all he can do is play when given the opportunity and hope that it helps.
