Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount participating in training on Wednesday gave Manchester United a significant injury boost.
After suffering an injury in July during a preseason friendly against Arsenal, Hojlund has not played a single minute in 2024–2025. Due to a hamstring injury, the Danish international has not been able to play this season.
Mount, on the other hand, started both of United’s first games against Manchester City in the Premier League and the Community Shield. But against Brighton, the former Chelsea player was pulled off the field after 45 minutes due to a hamstring problem, and he has since missed games.
Erik ten Hag will be encouraged by the news prior to his team’s matchup with Crystal Palace. After his team’s Carabao Cup victory against Barnsley, the Dutchman will be concentrating on keeping his players healthy as they begin a stretch of six games in 20 days.
Eight players were substituted throughout that game, yet the Red Devils managed to win 7-0 anyway. It seems like Ten Hag will be content to have access to other corpses.
He said to Sky Sports on Tuesday, “We have to rotate because we have a lot of games and we have to manage the squad.” “You cannot talk about a starting eleven players; you need everyone. If they are available, you must allow every member of the squad to participate in the game.”
“We are competing in five leagues, so we need every player in the squad,” the former Ajax manager continued. “We want to win but there is internal competition.”This is a chance for certain players to make a statement, and we need to determine which side has the best chemistry and team composition.”
Due to injuries, United’s manager is still without Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Leny Yoro, and Victor Lindelof. Regarding the latest prognosis for former Southampton defender Shaw, Ten Hag remained evasive.
He stated earlier this week, “First off, Luke Shaw is making progress, but he’s not ready to be selected just yet.” Naturally, we have a schedule in mind for when he will be prepared, but the growth is always what matters most.
“You can’t think, you can’t make a suggestion [of a return date] because there are so many factors why a plan can accelerate or slow down.”
