It has been reported that Manchester United has reportedly made a “bid of fifty million pounds” for a highly regarded Barcelona defender.
Ruben Amorim has only brought two players to the club since he arrived at Old Trafford in November 2024. These players are Ayden Heaven and Patrick Dorgu. United is currently in thirteenth place in the Premier League, and it is likely that they will look to strengthen their squad this summer.
If United decides to make any transfers during the summer, it is highly likely that these transfers will be funded by outgoings in order to comply with the regulations that govern finances.
In the beginning of this month, Amorim, who is forty years old, provided an explanation that he was prepared to be “honest” with his players about their futures at the club.
“We can talk about that [departures] at the end [of the season],” said Amorim in response.
In addition, he stated that “when you are honest with someone, they are able to take it.” At first, it is challenging, but they will eventually comprehend the situation. I am very forthright with my players, and they are already aware of the fact that there are times when they are required to move on at the conclusion of the season.
Despite the fact that he just recently signed a new contract with the La Liga club that will keep him there until the summer of 2031, there are now reports that link a Barcelona star with Manchester United.
Ronald Araujo, a centre back, is reportedly attracting interest from Manchester United. According to Football365, United is one of three teams, along with Juventus and Bayern Munich, that have “formalised offers for Araujo.” The Red Devils are reportedly considering making a “£50 million bid” for Araujo.
In the event that Araujo, who is 26 years old, were to join United, he would be competing with players such as Matthijs de Ligt, Lisandro Martinez, and Harry Maguire for a position in Amorim’s squad.
It is not clear whether the Uruguayan international custodian, who has won 21 caps for his country, would be willing to move from Barcelona to Manchester United. This is especially true when taking into consideration the possibility that the Red Devils will not be able to compete in the Champions League the following season.
The fact that United has shown interest in the player is not the first time they have done so.
During the year 2018, the defender disclosed that he had received “big offers” from other countries, but he ultimately decided to remain in Catalonia.
“I was always certain I wanted to stay,” Araujo told the television network. “There were big offers from abroad, but I’m happy at Barcelona.”
“[The interest in the Premier League] did not distract me in any way,” he continued. “I was convinced by what I wanted.” Although I acknowledge that money is a consideration, I do not consider it to be the most important thing.
