According to reports, Manchester United is prepared to submit a “huge bid worth £125 million” for a player who formerly played for Manchester City and is highly regarded.
United are currently in thirteenth place in the Premier League, and they will be playing Tottenham Hotspur away from home on Sunday. The match will take place in north London.
One of the reasons that the Red Devils are currently ranked in the bottom half of the league is because they do not have a threat in front of Goal.
A summertime signing For the current season, Joshua Zirkzee has only managed to score three goals in the Premier League. Two of those goals came in a match against Everton, and the other came on his debut against Fulham in August. Rasmus Hojlund, on the other hand, has only managed to score twice in the league.
As a result of this, Gary Neville even suggested that his former club re-sign Danny Welbeck, a forward who is currently playing for Brighton and is 34 years old.
Neville stated on Friday to Sky Sports that he believes the player in question is “actually perfect for how Manchester United should play.”
“Playing of players who are off the front line and threatening space behind.” Nothing could be further from the truth than the notion that he is not qualified to play for Manchester United.
It is possible that Manchester United could include him in a group of three or four strikers because of his ability.
However, it is yet another goal-scoring regular for whom United has been rumoured to be interested in making a move this summer.
Fichajes, a Spanish news outlet, has reported that Manchester United are prepared to make a bid of €150 million (£125 million) for Julian Alvarez, a former forward for Manchester City.
In the summer of 2017, Alvarez, who is now 25 years old, signed a contract with Atletico Madrid, a La Liga club, for a reported sum of 81.5 million pounds.
And ever since he arrived in the capital of Spain, he has continued to demonstrate his worth by scoring 17 goals in 36 matches for the team coached by Diego Simeone.
It was speculated that the Argentine left Manchester City because he desired to be the central figure in the team rather than giving Erling Haaland the role of the supporting actor.
Additionally, Pep Guardiola elaborated on his feelings regarding Alvarez’s departure during a press conference that took place in August of 2024.
According to Guardiola, “I don’t like to tell players what they have to do,” and he said this.
It’s nice to have contracts, but they can be broken too. Why should you be here if you are not content with your life?
“Atlético is a top club in Spain and in Europe, and when they suggested to me through the club that he wanted to leave, I said it was okay. He is extremely well liked by the team for his behaviour, but as I have stated numerous times about the players, if he wants to leave and wants a new challenge, he is free to do so.
“Imagine he stays when he doesn’t want to stay?”
As a result of Alvarez’s contributions to City, the club won two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, and a Champions League title, to name just a few of the accomplishments he accomplished during his time with the club. Alvarez scored 36 goals in 103 performances for City.
The manager continued, “I don’t know the reason why [he wanted to leave],” Guardiola responded. “He said he wants a new challenge and he feels it is what he has to do.”
Atletico Madrid has a contract with the 25-year-old player that runs until the summer of 2030.
