Man United Fans Can’t Believe Amorim Continues to Persist With £85k p/w Ace

It’s hard for Manchester United supporters to believe Ruben Amorim is still using Rasmus Hojlund as his main centre forward. The Danish forward, who earns £85,000 a week, provided no indications of a comeback during United’s miserable 1-0 loss to Wolves at home on Sunday afternoon.

The outcome, which was a devastating reflection of the team’s continuing decline, gave Wolves the opportunity to complete a league double over United for the first time since the 1979–80 season and represented the Red Devils’ fifteenth league loss of the season. Amorim didn’t hold back when he first took over M16 in November of last year, calling the team possibly the worst in United’s illustrious history.

The new manager’s pessimistic appraisal appears to be brutally accurate as the team now sits in 14th place and has suffered more home losses this season than in any prior Premier League campaign. But as Easter weekend drew to a close, frustration boiled in living rooms around the country and inside Old Trafford. Especially when it comes to his team selections, many fans still believe that Amorim has walked all over himself.

Man United Fans Raise Questions Over Hojlund Minutes

There’s a sense that favouritism is playing a role

Hojlund, who was acquired by the Red Devils from Atalanta in 2023 for £72 million, has only managed to score eight goals in 45 games so far this season. Amorim seems determined to get the Dane back to his best, even though his 70-minute cameo on Sunday only resulted in 13 touches, no important passes, and one blocked shot. He told reporters in another post-loss dressdown:

“Showing the videos is the only method I am aware of. He must score a point. If he is out, he won’t score.

The comments allude more to favouritism than good man management, implying that the Portuguese head coach is committed to playing Hojlund until he eventually scores. United fans are obviously upset about this; one X user commented, “He won’t score if he’s in, either.” In the meantime, another added:

“It’s like kicking someone while they’re down when Amorim keeps Hojlund up top. It’s just making things worse. Watching him play hurts because you know he’s better than what he’s displaying. The attempt to play him into form has failed miserably.

“It is damning for him that we look much better with Maguire and Mainoo up top,” a third commenter said. One person said, “He could have been taken off the firing line today and sent back to Denmark for a week or so to refresh his mind,” while another said, “Even when Obi came on today, we automatically looked better.”

Additional irate remarks imply that some Old Trafford supporters want Hojlund sold. While one person replied, “Every other player on the team is getting chances though,” another user wrote, “SELL.” Even his shots are failing him. He must be sold.
