Kevin De Bruyne, a midfielder for Manchester City, was forced to leave Wednesday night’s game against Inter Milan due to what seemed to be an injury.
The Belgian playmaker appeared uncomfortable and went down before the conclusion of the first half. He then underwent treatment. Furthermore, he did not come out of the tunnel for the second half, even though he continued to play until halftime.
The injury to De Bruyne would be a significant concern for City and Pep Guardiola, as they visit title rivals Arsenal in their next Premier League match on Sunday. It is unclear whether De Bruyne’s early substitution was only a precaution.
After playing for an even forty-five minutes, De Bruyne exited the field with the score tied. This game is a rematch of the 2023 championship game, which City won.
Before play at The Etihad began on Sunday, it was confirmed that Arsenal’s captain, Martin Odegaard, would be out from the game. The Norway international is expected to miss some time owing to a “significant” ankle injury.
Although it could have encouraged City, it would be disastrous to face Mikel Arteta’s team without De Bruyne accompanying him.
Speaking before the game, Guardiola emphasized that his team selection was not influenced by the important matchup on Sunday. In response to a question about its impact before to the match, he said, “Zero.”Despite having several injuries the previous season, De Bruyne is off to a great start in 2024–25 and was praised by Guardiola before to the Inter encounter.
When someone told Guardiola that De Bruyne seemed better than ever, he said, “Yeah, I agree.” However, Erling [Haaland] says the same thing in every statement made following the game. As I mentioned earlier, the season is underway and there will undoubtedly be many games. It got off to a great start and has continued to do so, particularly in the Premier League games and the tournaments.
