Manchester City is purportedly monitoring a Premier League player in anticipation of the summer transfer window.
On Saturday afternoon, City’s inconsistent season continued with a narrow loss to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in the Premier League.
In the 87th minute, Callum Hudson-Odoi scored to secure a crucial 1-0 victory for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.
Manchester City has expressed interest in a Premier League player.
It has been reported that City are closely monitoring Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton in anticipation of the summer transfer window.
Pep Guardiola and City are “huge admirers of Wharton,” as reported by TBR Football. The Premier League champions were in attendance at Selhurst Park to witness the 21-year-old start in Palace’s 1-0 victory over Ipswich Town.
Nevertheless, it has been posited that Palace is interested in retaining the midfielder and is willing to provide him with a “substantial new contract.”
The report also indicated that City are contemplating a bid for Wharton in the summer as a means of evaluating Palace’s resolve.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Aston Villa have also been associated with the 21-year-old, in addition to City.
Last month, Alan Shearer, a Premier League legend, described Wharton as “really exciting.”
He stated, “Adam Wharton… he was that player, wasn’t he, that sneaked into Gareth Southgate’s squad.” He was not prominently featured in the Euros, but his potential is evident.
“Really good in that position, he’s aggressive but he also keeps the ball – but he looks forward when he passes as well.”
Shearer continued, “That is a positive attribute of his.” I believe that it is his initial thought, from a forward perspective. When you have a midfielder who is willing to do so, it simplifies your responsibilities as a forward.
“I know it sounds really simple but a lot of the time you don’t see it but he’s a really talented midfielder – I hope he stays fit now because he’s really exciting.”
