Man City plot £87m raid on top European club and identify two players for Pep Guardiola’s rebuild

According to reports, Manchester City is prepared to begin negotiations this summer to sign two of its players with a major European club.

The FA Cup semi-final matchup against Nottingham Forest will keep City engaged in an otherwise drab season, but they still have work to do if they want to qualify for the Champions League this year after performing much below their typically outstanding standards.

Three new players were welcomed to the team by Pep Guardiola in January: Nico Gonzalez, Omar Marmoush, and Abdukodir Khusanov.

And since Kevin De Bruyne’s contract with the City is scheduled to expire in June, the head coach may want to expand his choices even further this summer.

Ilkay Gundogan’s contract is also coming to an end, but there is a chance to extend it for another year, so Kyle Walker’s future, who is now on loan at AC Milan, is also questionable.

New players will probably be needed, but who might be able to join the Etihad?

Guardiola, 54, is eager to add the midfielder and the left-back to his team, and it has been stated by TEAMtalk that City is planning to acquire both Tijjani Reijnders and Theo Hernandez from Milan.

With the squad presently ranked ninth in Italy’s top league, the Serie A team is reportedly under pressure to raise money this summer as it becomes more and more likely that they will not qualify for the Champions League next year.

Reijnders, 26, is valued by the Rossoneri at about £61 million, while Hernandez, 27, is valued at £26 million.

The younger player’s contract with Milan is slated to end in June 2026, while Hernandez’s is set to expire in the summer of 2030.

Regarding summer transfers, Pep Guardiola
Guardiola discussed his ideas for City’s possible summer business strategy at a news conference on Friday, April 11.

When Guardiola remarked, “I don’t know what will happen,” “Of course, the club is working, but we can’t sustain the team’s emotions with 45 guys on the roster. They all have contracts, with the exception of Kevin [De Bruyne], and we’ll see how they act and how we act. “We shall see.”
