Man City ‘line up outrageous £170m swoop’ for two players from same club as Pep Guardiola continues rebuild

It has been reported that Manchester City is exploring the possibility of spending close to 170 million pounds in order to acquire two players from the same club.

To this point, City’s season has not been up to par, as evidenced by their current position in the Premier League table, which is fifth, 15 points behind Liverpool, who are in first place.

The team coached by Pep Guardiola finished in the top 24 of the Champions League. They will now face Real Madrid, the team that won the tournament the previous year, in a two-leg playoff match that is sure to be a mouthwatering experience.

As a result of their lacklustre season, City was very active during the transfer window that took place in January.

With the addition of players such as Vitor Reis (£30 million), Abdukodir Khusanov (£33 million), Omar Marmoush (£67 million), and Nico Gonzalez (£50 million), Pep Guardiola was able to increase the level of quality in his playing squad, which was desperately needed.

On the other hand, it has recently been asserted that City is already planning ahead for the summer transfer window.

A record-breaking double deal is being pursued by Manchester City in advance of the summer transfer window.
Caught Offside has reported that City are keeping a close eye on the duo of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, who are currently playing for Bayer Leverkusen.

The reigning champions of England have reportedly “positioned themselves to have the best chance of signing Bayer Leverkusen duo Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong for close to €200 million (£166.6 million, $206.7 million) in the summer transfer window,” according to a report.

On the other hand, it was also reported that Manchester City might have to contend with fierce competition from clubs such as Arsenal, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain, all of which are looking to add players to their organisations during the summer.

German Wirtz is one of the players in Europe who has garnered the most attention after he made a significant impact while playing for Leverkusen under the direction of Xabi Alonso.

Throughout the course of this season, the 21-year-old has played in 34 matches across all competitions, and he has scored 15 goals and scored 12 assists.

In the meantime, Frimpong, a Dutchman, was a member of the City youth program prior to joining Celtic in 2019. The 24-year-old player eventually relocated to Leverkusen in 2021, where he has since established himself as one of the most talented full-backs on the continent.

Over the course of his 175 appearances for the German club, Frimpong has racked up 28 goals and 43 assists to this point.

The Champions League match between Manchester City and Madrid will take place at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night. City will welcome Madrid to the stadium.
