Man City discover Nottingham Forest’s eye-watering asking price for transfer target Morgan Gibbs-White

According to talkSPORT’s sources, Nottingham Forest has placed a price tag of one hundred million pounds on the player Morgan Gibbs-White, who is a target for Manchester City.

As a result of Kevin De Bruyne’s announcement that he will be leaving City at the conclusion of the current season, Gibbs-White has surfaced as a possible summer alternative for the club.

Due to the fact that the Belgian has participated in the Champions League and won six Premier League championships with City, he will leave a significant void in their midfield.

It is possible that Gibbs-White will be selected as the replacement once Forest has completed yet another successful season.

The team managed by Nuno Espirito Santo, on the other hand, places the England international in the same price range as the team that City paid for Jack Grealish.

Grealish was acquired by City from Aston Villa in 2021 for a transfer price of one hundred million pounds, which at the time was the highest cost ever paid for a British player.

In 2023, this record was beaten when Declan Rice moved from West Ham to Arsenal in a transfer that cost £105 million.

While playing for Wolves, Gibbs-White made the move to Forest in 2022, following the club’s elevation back to the Premier League. The transfer fee was £25 million plus add-ons.

Since then, the 25-year-old has participated in 110 matches across all competitions, during which time he has scored 16 goals and assisted on 27 others.

Lee Carsley, who had previously served as the temporary manager of England, said in September that the midfielder had received his very first senior international call-up as a reward for his outstanding performance.

When Gibbs-White made his first two appearances for the Three Lions, they were in victories against Ireland and Greece in the Nations League games.

With Forest preparing for the FA Cup semi-finals, he has not yet won a significant trophy in his career; however, this might change in the coming weeks as Forest prepares for the competition.

The match will take place at Wembley Stadium on April 27, and it will be part of a season run-in in which they are expected to earn a surprising top-five finish in the Premier League.

With 57 points, Forest is now in third place, four points clear of Chelsea and Newcastle in the overall standings for the remaining Champions League qualifying slots.

As a result of Arsenal’s 3-0 victory against Real Madrid on Tuesday, five Premier League qualifiers will be selected to compete in the most prestigious club championship in Europe for the upcoming season.

In the event that Forest finishes in the top five, two-time champions of the European Cup will be able to participate in Champions League football for the first time since the 1980–1981 season.

On Saturday, they will attempt to bring the margin between themselves and Arsenal, who are now in second position, down to just two points.
