The departure of a much-loved television channel from the screens of sports fans will take effect on February 28th, says the announcement.
After over 35 years of broadcasting, Eurosport will no longer be shown on television in the United Kingdom. The channel has hosted a variety of events, including the Olympic Games, Grand Slam tennis, European football, and many others; however, it is going to undergo a significant transformation.
In the beginning of this month, a statement was published on the website of the channel, which confirmed that they would be switching to TNT Sports, which is accessible through discovery+.
In a statement, it was stated that “TNT Sports has today announced the addition of the full line-up of Eurosport live and non-live content to its channels and platforms in the United Kingdom and Ireland beginning at the end of February 2025.”
This now creates a single destination for an incredible lineup of live sports, which is a fulfilment of an ambition that was set out prior to the launch of TNT Sports in 2023.
Beginning February 28, all of the content related to sports will be consolidated and located in a single location. TNT now has access to a variety of sports, including cycling, tennis, snooker, and the Olympic Winter Games, in addition to the Premier League, European Club football, Rugby, UFC, and Boxing. This is a result of the aforementioned switch.
The following is a statement made by Scott Young, Group Senior Vice President of Content, Production, and Business Operations at WBD Sports Europe: “By combining the content of Eurosport and TNT Sports in the United Kingdom and Ireland, we will be able to provide sports fans with single, premium viewing experiences.” As we continue our commitment to investing in and championing sport on our screens, which has been a fundamental component of the success of grassroots through to elite levels, this move in the United Kingdom and Ireland will also continue to best deliver value for our leagues and federation partners. This commitment has been in place for more than three decades.
Additionally, TNT Sports will continue to provide fans with additional content on Quest, which is a free-to-air channel owned and operated by Warner Bros. Discovery. Additionally, in 2025, this will include the broadcasting of each and every MotoGP Sprint race, the addition of live coverage of Bennetts British Superbikes, the launch of a brand-new weekly cycling show that will cover all of the most important moments of the season, the continuation of highlights from the Giro d’Italia and La Vuelta a Espana, and the premiere of a variety of new documentaries about sports.
Beginning on February 28, guests who visit the website of the channel will be redirected to the website of TNT Sports.co.uk.
Fans also shared their opinions on the change on various social media platforms.
The final knockings of Eurosport in the United Kingdom today will, for the most part, go by without much notice, according to one person.
“But for those of us who like a” minority “sport or two, it’ll be a big miss.”
An additional individual stated: “Channel has been a massive part of my life and they have done things much better than the other big UK broadcasters.”
A third individual elaborated, saying, “Given its history, it is deserving of a much more fitting farewell.” I am going to miss it.
