Main Reason Why Julian Alvarez chose to leave Man City during summer transfer window

After departing Pep Guardiola’s squad, former Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez has made five appearances for his new team, Atletico Madrid, scoring once.

According to Rodrigo de Paul, Julian Alvarez’s new colleague, the former Manchester City player moved to Atletico Madrid in the summer because of his ambition.

Throughout his tenure at City, Alvarez had shown to be Pep Guardiola’s dependable backup option. In 103 games for the Blues, the forward recorded 33 goals and 18 assists, however he played mostly as a substitute.

Alvarez’s decision to pursue a transfer in the summer was surprising even though he was Erling Haaland’s backup choice. City ultimately agreed to sell the 24-year-old for an initial £64.4 million. The Argentine has made five appearances for Atleti since joining La Liga, and he scored his first goal on Sunday in the team’s 3-0 triumph over Valencia.

When asked about his involvement in Alvarez’s move to Spain in a recent interview with CNN Espanol, De Paul, a central midfielder, admitted he had a hypothesis about why the former City player left the Premier League. “A few messages were sent,” the thirty-year-old clarified.

However, I believe it also conveys something about Julian—his character, his appetite, and his will to push himself. Because you believe that Julian, a 24-year-old player in the World Cup, the Champions League, the Copa Libertadores, and the Copa America—he has won it all and is still not happy, right?

“It is, in my opinion, the desire to push boundaries while realizing there is always a little bit more. As a result, he accepts this task, which is difficult because Atletico Madrid has great expectations for a player of his caliber.

“He moved even though he knew they had a fantastic staff and had found a peaceful spot in Manchester. He constantly desires a little bit more.

“So, I think it speaks of who he is, his mentality, his hunger and well, we, at least I as a teammate in the national team, will try to help him achieve what he came looking for, which are titles.” In Alvarez’s absence, City had scored plenty of goals up until Wednesday night.

In their first four Premier League games of the current season, City had already scored 11 goals.
