Liverpool’s Parting Gift to Alexander-Arnold Before Emotional Farewell Speech


Trent Alexander-Arnold delivered his farewell address to his Liverpool teammates at



AXA Training Centre ahead of his last game. The Reds will face Crystal Palace in the Premier League this weekend, and the English defender will bid farewell to the Anfield faithful.


It remains to be seen how he will be treated, as he was booed by home fans against Arsenal in his last home appearance, but his teammates showed him plenty of love during this final training session.



According to the Liverpool Echo, captain Virgil van Dijk led the goodbyes, thanking Alexander-Arnold with a touching message:


“Right, Trent, we all knew this day was coming, and I speak on behalf of everyone here. We want to thank you for everything you’ve done.



“Obviously, we will miss you from your time at Liverpool, the success we enjoyed, and the fantastic times we shared on and off the pitch. You’re an excellent golfer and a wonderful human being.


“We wish you the best and, yes, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you’ve done. Best wishes. We have a little something for you.

Everyone applauded, and the captain gave the vice-captain a framed ‘Alexander-Arnold 66 Liverpool shirt.\

Alexander-Arnold’s Farewell Message

“I’m just eternally grateful for everything that I’ve been given”

Alexander-Arnold then delivered an impromptu speech, which has been widely shared online. He said:

“I’m eternally grateful for everything I’ve been given. We all dream of these times, but they feel extra precious to me because I’ve been here for 20 years.

“It’s an incredible chapter in my life; it’s everything I’ve ever fought for and dreamed about.

“To share it with you guys and form these ties, many of the fellas, particularly these ones here [points to VVD and Alisson], have seen me grow from a youngster to a man.

“The bonds and the brotherhood I’ve got with you guys will remain with me forever.”
