Liverpool ‘target’ stunning move for PSG star and will sell three players to fund move after Florian Wirtz transfer

The Premier League champions could have a busy summer transfer window.

Liverpool is apparently considering selling three players to bankroll the signings of Florian Wirtz and a highly regarded PSG player.

Liverpool will enter the 2025/26 Premier League season as champions, but Arne Slot may look to strengthen his squad ahead of his second season in charge at Anfield.

The Reds have been widely connected with Bayer Leverkusen and Germany’s Wirtz.

On Wednesday (June 11), writer Fabrizio Romano provided an update on the player’s situation through X.

“EXCLUSIVE: Florian Wirtz to Liverpool, here we go! Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen have orally agreed in principle on a package of €150 million, including add-ons,” Romano said.

“The player side had already agreed two weeks ago, and the move is now imminent. Wirtz is scheduled for medical and contract signing.

The reported €150 million (£127.4 million) cost would set a Liverpool and British transfer record.

However, a report suggests that the transaction might be funded by the sale of three players.

According to the Sun, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz might all leave the club this summer to free up funds for the Reds to spend on new players.

According to the source, Liverpool are ready to compete with Bayern Munich for PSG winger Bradley Barcola.

Barcola, 22, was a member of PSG’s treble-winning squad in 2024/25, having joined from Lyon for £38 million in 2023.

Despite clearly being a quality player, the France international was frequently utilized as a substitute and may struggle to overtake Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as Luis Enrique’s first choice on the left flank.

According to the Guardian, Liverpool could make a bid of approximately £100 million for the Frenchman. The champions have also been connected with Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak, but the Magpies’ £150 million valuation may be too expensive. Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez has also been linked with a move to Anfield, with Cherries teammate Justin Kluivert recently stating, “He’ll probably go there (to Liverpool), I hope so for him,” when on international duty with the Netherlands.

The Cherries allegedly estimate the Serbia-born Hungary international at about £40-45 million. Liverpool have already signed right-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen for £29.6 million.
