Liverpool ‘snubbed Ruben Amorim as Jurgen Klopp replacement’ after hearing how much he ‘needed’ to spend on squad rebuild

After calculating the amount of money they would have needed to spend on new players, Liverpool reportedly decided against hiring Ruben Amorim to take over as Jurgen Klopp’s replacement.

Back in January of 2024, Jurgen Klopp made the announcement that he would be leaving Liverpool at the conclusion of the 23/24 season, which caused shockwaves to travel throughout the entire football world.

During that time period, the German stated that he was unable to “do the job again and again and again and again.”

As a consequence of this, Liverpool had approximately four months to look for a replacement for their player, and according to the results, Slot, a Dutchman, was selected over players such as Amorim and Xabi Alonso.

While Alonso, a former star player for the Reds, made the decision to commit his future to Bayer Leverkusen, Amorim received no consideration.

In light of recent developments, Liverpool has disclosed the rationale behind their decision to ignore the Portuguese.

What caused Liverpool to pass up Ruben Amorim in favour of Arne Slot
After coming out on top of “the club’s metrics among leading European coaches for keeping players fit,” Amorim was reportedly considered as a candidate to replace Klopp. This information was reported by The Times.

Despite this, Liverpool made the decision not to hire Amorim after determining that it would cost approximately 400 million pounds to bring in the players that would be required to play his defensive system.

Amorim eventually made a move to the Premier League after being passed over by Liverpool. He was selected by Manchester United to take Erik ten Hag’s place in the team’s starting lineup.

On the other hand, the forty-year-old has had a difficult time putting his playing style into action until this point, as United is currently ranked fourteenth in the Premier League table.

Amorim was asked whether his formation could be the issue before United’s Europa League match against AZ Alkmaar. The match is scheduled to take place for the Europa League.

I believe that the system is not the issue; rather, it is the manner in which the game is being played. There are a lot of issues that we are trying to address, and we are facing a lot of challenges. Each and every system requires a unique set of characteristics. My self-assurance is still very high. That is something that I will not alter [my formation].

“Because we have exhausted all of the cups that have the potential to alter a great deal of things. It is possible for Manchester United to dream of having the best players in the world in the future. I am aware that the Europa League has the potential to alter the situation.
