According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool is closely monitoring Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen in advance of the summer transfer window.
Prior to the 2024–25 season, Huijsen transferred from Juventus to Bournemouth, where he has since made a name for himself as one of the top young defenders in the Premier League and the entire world. With Huijsen being a superb defender who is more than at ease moving forward with the ball, the Spanish youth international quickly rose to the top of Bournemouth’s team sheet. CaughtOffside called such a player “unique.”
The Cherries are in a strong position to challenge for European qualifying under Andoni Iraola’s leadership, something that many would have considered a pipe dream before to the start of the season.

Given the skill with which Huijsen already plays, it is easy to forget that he is only 19 years old. Alan Shearer has referred to Huijsen as “outstanding.” Naturally, a number of teams have expressed interest in the defender due to his recent performance, with Liverpool being the most recent to do so.
Liverpool is interested in Huijsen, and the Reds are only one of many parties.
CaughtOffside claims that Liverpool is “closely following” Huijsen and may try to sign the defender during the next transfer window. Due to a release clause in his Bournemouth contract, Huijsen is reportedly available for £50 million.
After Arne Slot took over for Jurgen Klopp in the summer, Liverpool has had an amazing season, their first under his leadership. The Dutchman has led the Reds to the top of the Premier League standings, separating them from Arsenal, who are currently in second position.
Additionally, after winning the new league structure and making it to the Carabao Cup final under Slot’s direction, Liverpool advanced to the Champions League knockout stages.
Thus far, Slot has only signed one outfield player, Federico Chiesa. In Huijsen, Liverpool would not only be acquiring a remarkable player but also one who might stay at Anfield for many years to come, possibly serving as Virgil van Dijk’s eventual replacement as he reaches 34 this year.
