Liverpool handed huge Alexander Isak boost as Premier League ‘domino effect’ transfer finally agreed

Big news for Liverpool and Arne Slot.

Liverpool appear to have taken a step closer to signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle, with one of their Premier League rivals agreeing to a significant trade.

Newcastle rejected the Reds’ £110 million deal for Isak in early August, with the club demanding at least £150 million in return.

According to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail, the Magpies will not consider selling Isak unless they find a suitable replacement.

So far, Eddie Howe’s side has failed to sign Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike, who have moved on to Manchester United and Liverpool, respectively.

The Magpies dispatched scouts to watch Spain attacker Samu Aghehowa play for Porto earlier this week, according to Portuguese publication Jornal de Noticias (via Sport Witness).

But their main objective appears to be Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, who is worth roughly £40 million.

On Thursday, Bees manager Keith Andrews revealed that Wissa would not be selected for his side’s opening Premier League encounter against Nottingham Forest because he is not’ready to play’ despite the transfer interest.

The DR Congolese international took a brief hiatus from the club over the summer, but he is currently back in training.

However, there has been a huge development on the eve of the new Premier League season.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Brentford have agreed to pay a club record amount to recruit forward Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth.

The Bees will pay £37 million plus £5 million in add-ons for the 23-year-old, who is reportedly unhappy at Dean Court.

Ouattara, who scored seven Premier League goals last season, including a hat-trick against Nottingham Forest, is a winger by trade but was frequently used as a striker for Bournemouth last season when other players were injured.

It remains to be seen whether his arrival will lead Brentford to approve Wissa’s deal.

However, with Newcastle reporter Hope claiming that the Magpies will consider selling Isak to Liverpool if they can acquire one striker, a move for the 28-year-old striker would finally give the Reds a small foothold as they attempt to complete their British-record deal before the summer transfer window closes.
