Rio Ngumoha was the hero as Liverpool defeated Newcastle United.
Federico Chiesa’s reaction to Rio Ngumoha’s spectacular victory against Newcastle United has sparked debate among Liverpool fans.
On Monday night, 16-year-old Ngumoha made his global debut by scoring a last-gasp winner for Liverpool against Newcastle.
After Anthony Gordon was sent off following a harsh challenge on Virgil van Dijk, Newcastle appeared to be doomed when Hugo Ekitike made it 2-0 in the second half.
However, Liverpool’s defensive weakness was exposed once more when Bruno Guimaraes and William Osula scored to make it 2-2 with 88 minutes remaining.
Deep into 11 minutes of stoppage time, Ngumoha put his name in lights by converting what was perhaps Liverpool’s only quality move of the game, securing a stunning 3-2 triumph.
Following the game, a video recorded from the stands capturing the duration of Liverpool’s winning goal was shared on social media, with Chiesa catching fans’ attention.
As Ngumoha went off to celebrate his first Premier League goal, Italian Chiesa was spotted going in the opposite direction in pure enthusiasm before returning to the kid.
The 27-year-old, who scored the winner against Bournemouth in the first encounter, was then spotted hugging Mohamed Salah, who assisted on the goal. You may see the footage below.

On social media, one fan commented, “No one gets more excited for a Liverpool goal than Federico Chiesa.”
Another tweeted, “Where was he going?”
A third fan remarked, “Chiesa’s reaction is pure football passion, and you love to see it.”
Another person contributed: “Most tell tale sign of a player getting overly excited is when they run in the complete wrong direction to celebrate.”
A fifth said, “Where was he even running to in the first place.”
Another fan commented, “He actually loves this club.”

What Rio Ngumoha said after scoring a stunning winner against Newcastle.
Speaking after the game, Ngumoha stated, “I heard the supporters yell my name. That is a truly amazing moment, in my opinion, but you cannot get carried away with all of the commotion.
“Because at the end of the day, I probably do that finish 100 times on the training ground, so it’s no different with the fans, but obviously the fans backing me there, it’s just crazy.”
The Reds return to Premier League action this weekend, facing rivals Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
