The fans of Liverpool have been criticised for their actions at Wembley Stadium, which occurred prior to the players of Newcastle collecting their Carabao Cup winners’ medals.
In the end, Newcastle prevailed by a score of 2-1 thanks to goals scored by Dan Burn and Alexander Isak, both of which came after the break.
Federico Chiesa scored what turned out to be a consolation goal for Liverpool in the second half injury time. However, his strike was not sufficient to prevent the Magpies from winning their first trophy since the Fairs Cup in 1969.
At full-time, there were scenes that were understandably emotional among the Magpies faithful. This was especially true as they watched their team lose the 2023 Carabao Cup final to Manchester United by a narrow margin.
On that occasion, Eddie Howe’s team suffered a defeat by a score of 2-0; however, there was no way that this would happen again on Sunday at Wembley.
Bruno Guimaraes, the captain of the team, led his team up the Wembley steps to collect their winners’ medals. However, some fans were critical of the Liverpool section for what the majority of their fans had already done prior to that moment.
One thing that was observed was that a considerable number of Reds supporters were leaving the stadium at the same time that their own players were collecting their runners-up medals. This meant that they were completely absent from Newcastle’s presentation.
“Liverpool fans not even bothering to watch the players get their runners up medals,” wrote one enthusiast on Twitter. “Liverpool fans are not even paying attention.” Bereft of victory”
A second individual commented: “Disappointing to see Liverpool fans leaving Wembley Stadium before the team was presented with the runners up medals.”
A third person chimed in, saying, “That is embarrassing for all of us.” Rejoice in the fact that a club like Newcastle did everything in their power to defeat us, and take the loss.
On the other hand, Liverpool supporters defended their actions after the game, with one of them writing, “The appropriate measure to take.” It is important that the team be aware that they are embarrassing.
A second person chimed in and said, “Only about as much as that performance deserves.”
There was also a third person who said, “Rightly so after that performance.”
