After his Nations League performance, Liverpool’s top transfer target has already won over supporters.
After Florian Wirtz, a transfer target, was seen winding up Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva, Liverpool supporters dubbed him a club legend.
Wirtz started for Germany in their Nations League semi-final match against Portugal, only days before he is anticipated to depart Bayer Leverkusen and sign a club record contract to join Liverpool.
The midfielder faced a number of his future Premier League rivals during the match, including Silva of Manchester City and Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United.
Liverpool supporters have praised their transfer target on social media, calling him a club icon for his deeds during the match after noticing a moment between the three guys during the international encounter.
The German international was seen fighting with both guys during the game, but in the closing moments of the contest, tensions reached a breaking point when Wirtz and Silva collided, seemingly hurting the City icon.
A number of Portugal players ran over in protest as Wirtz, who seemed irritated by the event, began hauling Silva off the ground to restart the game while his team was behind 2-1.
Fernandes shoved Wirtz away from his teammate as soon as he got to the situation, and even though the German was given a yellow card for his conduct, Liverpool supporters still like him.
One fan responded to the incident by writing on X: “Wirtz rattled him BAD lmao.”
“He’s not even joined yet bro, already hate Silva and Bruno Fernandes,” another person remarked.
“Has he just announced his own transfer, again!” one person said in reference to Wirtz’s latest social media post about his reported move to Anfield.
“They’ll be a mural of him around the ground even before he signs at this rate,” another fan asserted.
Although the precise date of Wirtz’s transfer to Liverpool is still unknown, multiple reports from transfer specialists Florian Plettenberg and Fabrizio Romano have indicated that the move is likely to happen soon.
Not long after acquiring his former teammate Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, Wirtz is anticipated to fetch a record-breaking €150 million (£126 million) from Liverpool.
