Liverpool Fans React Badly to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Real Madrid Social Media Post

Fans find it difficult to watch one of their major players leave their football club for another. Liverpool fans are well aware of this right now, as Trent Alexander-Arnold left the club this summer to join Real Madrid. Until now, the full-back had spent his whole career at Anfield and was a firm favourite among Liverpool fans.

He’s appeared in almost 350 games for his hometown team, and there were no better right-backs in the earth to represent Liverpool than him. That all changed when he proclaimed his intention to leave the club once his contract expired and transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu.

While they previously revered the ground he walked on, the Anfield supporters have now turned on Alexander-Arnold. They’ve even started blocking him on social media following his newest post.

Despite being a lifelong Liverpool fan who has spent his entire career with the club, Alexander-Arnold is clearly pleased about the move to Real Madrid. He spoke fluent Spanish throughout his initial news conference with the club, and he has now shared a video on social media recording his journey to the Santiago Bernabeu. He also captioned it with a house emoji, essentially referring to Madrid as his home.

It’s safe to assume the post irritated Liverpool fans. Many people have expressed their dissatisfaction in the comments, and some have even blocked the fullback. One supporter commented on his video on X (Twitter), writing, “Never been so relieved to be able to unfollow you on here.” You’re deceiving yourself if you think you’ve left any kind of legacy. Enjoy that money for comfort, because it will be all you have in your old age.”

Another admirer linked the England star’s career at Liverpool to Steven Gerrard’s, writing: “You mentioned copying Gerrard in the past. You will never be mentioned in the same breath as him. As a Scouser who supported him through thick and thin despite media scrutiny, this is really disheartening. Your bed is made,” while a third simply said, “Wish you the worst, mate.”

A fourth supporter also expressed their desire to unfollow Alexander-Arnold on social media, writing: “Can’t even follow you anymore lad, of course you won’t be arsed. Just don’t come racing back here, cap in hand, if you get tossed out of Madrid. “Your short-term big-bucks decision will linger with you for life, stay in Spain,” and another couldn’t help calling him out for the title of the video, stating: “20 years at Liverpool, and 24 hours in Madrid is your ‘Home’. “Can’t wait for this move to fail.”

A sixth fan merely tweeted a photo of them blocking Alexander-Arnold on X, and a final fan warned him about playing Liverpool in the future, saying, “Enjoy Anfield away next season buddy.” See you very soon. “You have not escaped us.”
