Liverpool fans claim Trent Alexander-Arnold is ‘already regretting move’ after hearing first Real Madrid supporters’ chant

Liverpool fans believe Trent Alexander-Arnold regrets leaving the club after hearing the first Real Madrid chant.

Despite his contract expiring at the end of June, Real Madrid agreed to pay Liverpool £10 million to sign Alexander-Arnold in time for the redesigned Club World Cup, which begins on Sunday.

Two weeks after the acquisition was officially announced, the defender will be introduced as a Real Madrid player on Thursday during a ceremony at the club’s training facility, Real Madrid City.

As Alexander-Arnold arrived for the introduction, scores of Real Madrid fans gathered outside to greet him, introducing their new chant for their star signing.

However, Liverpool fans are unimpressed with the song, claiming that Alexander-Arnold’s reaction indicates that he is already regretting his decision to join the Spanish giants.

As he met with club officials outside a medical center in Madrid, the 26-year-old was greeted by a crowd of fans chanting “Arnold” and cheering his arrival.

The video of the chant comes a day after it was disclosed that Alexander-Arnold would replace the legendary number 66 with the number 12 due to La Liga rules requiring shirt numbers to lie between 1 and 25.

Surprisingly, the defender decided to make a huge adjustment to his shirt, wearing his first name on the back instead of his surname.

And Liverpool fans believe that Real Madrid supporters’ apparent disregard for this’rebrand’ and continued chanting of part of his surname will definitely frustrate the Englishman.

On X, one fan tweeted a laughing emoji alongside: “Shouting “Arnold!” after he’s just rebranded everything to ‘Trent'”

While one claimed: “‘Arnold’ chants yeah man, I know he’s regretting everything already”

Another person remarked, “He used to have so much aura, wtf happened.”

The 26-year-old is Real Madrid’s second signing of the summer, following former Bournemouth star Dean Huijsen, who was announced as Xabi Alonso’s first signing at a presentation on June 10.

Although it is unclear when Alexander-Arnold will make his La Liga debut, it is possible that it will take place as early as June 18 during Real Madrid’s Club World Cup match against Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.
