Following the release of a video featuring Dan Burn from the England camp, supporters of Liverpool have voiced their disapproval of Jordan Henderson.
Having scored in Newcastle United’s Carabao Cup final victory over Liverpool, which Newcastle United won 2-1, Burn entered his first England camp. The match took place on Sunday.
A surprise call-up was given to him in advance of England’s World Cup qualifying matches later this month. Henderson, who had previously served as the captain of Liverpool, was also selected for the first squad that Thomas Tuchel has assembled since he was appointed.
The players arrived at St. George’s Park on Monday and went through their paces, with a star player under the age of 21 training alongside the senior squad throughout the process.
Upon arrival, the Carabao Cup victory that Newcastle had achieved over Liverpool was re-played on the large screen. Burn re-watched his header that had put his team in the lead.
While the towering defender was rewatching the championship game, Henderson could be seen laughing and making a joke at his international colleague. Henderson was also seen watching the game.
In light of Henderson’s time spent at Anfield, Liverpool supporters were enraged by the conversation he had with Burn.
One user on X commented: “Its not that serious but a former Liverpool captain and Sunderland fan having a laugh with a Newcastle player that scored and won against Liverpool is kinda wild if you think about it.”
There was a second tweet that read, “Something funny, Hendo?”
A third person chimed in and said, “By the way, our captain was once upon a time.”
Henderson was a member of Liverpool for a total of twelve years, during which time the club won both the Premier League and the Champions League while he was there.
Before making his way back to Europe in the form of a transfer to Ajax, he relocated to Saudi Arabia during the summer of 2023.
It is clear that Tuchel has taken notice of his recent performance, as he has chosen the 34-year-old player.
According to Tuchel, “Jordan is a winner on a consistent basis.”
“Ajax is led by him as captain. Leadership, character, energy, and personality are all qualities that he brings to every team he is a part of.
“He ensures that everyone lives their lives in accordance with the standards. Everything that we strive to create is embodied in him. We want to construct a team that our supporters will be proud of.
“We had this phone call a few weeks ago where I wanted to check in, introduce myself, and see how he feels about this idea and if he was ready,” the German boss continued. “I wanted to make sure that everything was going well.” The video call was chosen because it allows you to at least see people’s reactions.
“He held it in high regard. It was a text message that I sent to him before I called him with an unknown number. Observing his genuine reaction was a very pleasant experience for me. He is a winner on multiple occasions, having won more than 80 caps, and there is nothing but pure joy and humility in the fact that he made this choice. It was a very stunning display.”
