Liverpool Face New Threat as Third Club Target Marc Guehi Free Deal

After his deadline-day transfer to Liverpool fell through, it looks like a third European powerhouse has entered the battle to get Marc Guehi, so he won’t be short of suitors for his talents next summer.

After entering the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park, the 25-year-old Crystal Palace captain and England international defender looked certain to go to Anfield on transfer deadline day.

Guehi appeared to be joining the Premier League winners after Palace and Liverpool agreed on a transfer fee of £35 million with add-ons.

But after Palace failed to find a successor for the departing Guehi, the move fell through and never materialised.

In the summer of 2021, Guehi moved from Chelsea to Palace for an estimated £18 million. Since then, he has made 162 appearances for the Eagles and scored nine goals.

He was a member of the Palace team that defeated Liverpool in the Community Shield at the start of this season and won the FA Cup the previous season.

Guehi is still a Palace player after his move to Anfield fell through, and when his current contract expires next summer, he will have no reason to leave Selhurst Park.

A few months from now, during the January transfer window, Palace will have their final opportunity to recover a transfer fee for Guehi.

After stating to Palace that he has no desire in signing a new contract at Selhurst Park, Guehi will have no shortage of suitors for his services next summer since he is available on a Bosman.

Liverpool is one of the teams interested in the England international and will be aiming to sign him at the second time of asking, thus it means the player will be moving to a new place next summer.

However, a third club has already entered the fight for the defender’s services, and numerous European powerhouses are apparently considering a move for Guehi.

The Daily Express claims that German team Bayern Munich is keeping an eye on the Palace defender in addition to Real Madrid and Barcelona, the El Clasico teams.

Juventus and Inter Milan, two Italian teams, are reportedly “keen” on Guehi as well.

The ability to seek a pre-contract deal with Guehi starting on January 1st gives any European team a significant edge against Liverpool. This means that a move to the continent can be discussed before any potential transfer to another English club occurs.
