Liverpool dealt huge Alexander Isak blow as Newcastle respond to Benjamin Sesko snub

Following Benjamin Sesko’s decision to join Manchester United, an update has been given regarding Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak.

Benjamin Sesko ‘decided’ to join Manchester United over Newcastle United, which has delivered a setback to Liverpool’s incredible chase of Alexander Isak.

Sesko has become the top summer transfer target for both Newcastle and Manchester United.

After their first bid was turned down, the Magpies submitted a revised one.

The Red Devils made their own bid, but it was lower than what their competitors were willing to give.

Despite Ruben Amorim’s team having no European football after last season’s terrible Premier League campaign, the Slovenian has set his sights on joining Man United, with two offers on the table.

Liverpool, who are keeping an eye on Isak ahead of the upcoming season, is also hurt by Sesko’s wish to continue playing at Old Trafford.

The Swede wants to leave Newcastle, where he scored 23 league goals the previous season. Newcastle would only allow the player to leave if they could find a replacement.

Sesko was identified by the club and Eddie Howe, but a transfer seems doubtful because the player is adamant about joining Manchester United.

Isak will therefore not be permitted to leave Newcastle.

Craig Hope, who gave an update on Newcastle’s transfer position, said as much.

“NUFC had to pursue Sesko move, even though feeling was last week he favoured Man U,” he stated on X.

“But they were given encouragement too (no more so than Monday) & Man U offer was yet to come.”

“It will be back to other targets now… & impact on Isak is clear,” the journalist continued, referring to Isak and other targets. As it is, he is unable to go.

What would happen if Alexander Isak couldn’t be signed by Liverpool this summer?
If Liverpool is unable to reach an agreement with Newcastle for Isak, it is uncertain what they will do in the market.

However, given Darwin Nunez’s anticipated retirement and Diogo Jota’s untimely death, Arne Slot will probably seek attacking options for the forthcoming campaign.

Hugo Ekitike has already been enticed to Anfield by Liverpool, of course, but additional personnel may be required to match the demands of the upcoming campaign.

Although negotiations have slowed, Real Madrid winger Rodrygo has been heavily linked to a move to Liverpool.

They might, however, rekindle their interest in Rodrygo and try to close a deal before the window closes on September 1 if a deal for Isak is totally out of the question.
