Liverpool announce seven players are leaving the club as retained list confirmed

Arne Slot has opted to release seven players ahead of next season.

Liverpool has officially declared that seven more players will leave the club after the retained list for the 2025/26 season was issued.

Liverpool are already busy in the transfer market, less than two weeks after winning the Premier League title as champions of the 2024/25 season, with deals for numerous elite players set to be finalized in the following weeks.

Liverpool has been securing deals for more than just new players recently, as numerous players have already departed the club during the special transfer window that opened ahead of the Club World Cup.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was the first to leave Anfield before his contract expired at the end of the month, signing for Real Madrid for £10 million, while club hero Caoimhin Kelleher recently joined Brentford for up to £18 million.

However, Liverpool has indicated that at least seven additional players will depart the club as part of their retained list for the 2025/26 season.

Liverpool confirmed on its official website that numerous Academy players will be leaving once their current contracts expired.

Dominic Corness, Louis Enahoro-Marcus, Harry Evers, Lee Jonas, Jakub Ojrzynski, Jacob Poytress, and Reece Trueman will all depart the club this summer, while numerous other young players have been granted new contracts.

Liverpool confirmed the news, writing: “Everyone at Liverpool would like to thank them for their contributions and wish them the best in the future.”

Although much of the attention will be focused on the seven departures, Liverpool’s choice to provide contracts to eight young players demonstrates that the club is committed to nurturing youth youngsters who will ideally go on to prosper for the club.

Fans will be pleased to learn that 18-year-old Keyrol Figueroa, the son of former Premier League defender Maynor Figueroa, has been offered a new contract after impressing for Liverpool and the United States’ minor teams.

Who else might depart Liverpool this summer?
Several additional senior players are anticipated to leave Liverpool in the coming months to make room for Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez and Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz.

Despite recently rejecting Barcelona’s attempt to discuss signing Luis Diaz, it is reported that the Colombian winger could be sold if a large offer comes in for him.

However, Diaz is not the only forward connected with a move away; at least one of Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa, Harvey Elliott, and Darwin Nunez are also anticipated to leave, with the latter most likely pursuing links to the Saudi Pro League.

At the opposite end of the pitch, Kerkez’s expected arrival may hint that Kostas Tsimikas could leave, while Joe Gomez or Jarell Quansah could be utilized as part of a swap deal to sign Wirtz this summer.
