Lionel Messi reveals the one football match he lost that still ‘tortures’ him

Lionel Messi, a legendary player for Argentina, has disclosed the one football encounter that he experienced as a form of torment.

Having won a number of medals and individual honours, Messi, who is now 37 years old, is widely considered to be among the best players who have ever graced the football ground.

The Argentine has played for a number of different teams throughout his career, including Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Inter Miami, among others. In his current career, he has scored 757 goals while playing for 934 different clubs.

Messi is widely considered to be the greatest player in the history of football, particularly after Argentina’s victory at the 2022 World Cup is taken into consideration.

When Argentina made it to the final of the 2014 World Cup, the eight-time winner of the Ballon d’Or had the opportunity to experience the splendour of the tournament.

Despite this, Germany prevailed over Argentina by a score of 1-0, with Mario Gotze scoring the game-winning goal in extra time.

Messi disclosed in a recent interview that the loss in Brazil was like a form of agony for him.

As reported by Mundo Albiceleste, Messi made the following statement in reference to the match between Argentina and France: “Mbappé is able to relax knowing that he won the 2018 World Cup.” In spite of the fact that it is absurd, he managed to score four goals in the championship game and still came up short of winning the title.

The exact same thing occurred to me in 2014, and it was a tormenting experience for me. When you look back, you also say to yourself, “I could have won two.”

The fact that he was able to state that he had accomplished everything in football was something that he considered to be of great value.

When I think about everything that God has blessed me with, I always remark that I am extremely grateful to him. I have everything because of God.

Back in 2022, Argentina came out on top over France via a dramatic penalty shootout.

While Messi was thinking back on that night in Qatar, he made the following statement: “We know that when we get to penalty kicks, we have that beast.”

Messi said, “It was crazy if they scored that goal.” This was in response to a question concerning Emi Martinez’s stop from Randal Kolo Muani after the extra time whistle. At some point you have to be lucky… in this case it wasn’t chance, it was Dibu.”
