Lennon Miller has finally opens up on Celtic transfer decision after Brendan Rodgers interest

There were other clubs vying for Lennon Miller, including Celtic.

Having observed the 19-year-old up close multiple times over the past two seasons, Brendan Rodgers gave him a high rating.

Despite his young age, the midfielder made a breakthrough for Steve Clarke’s Scotland team during a fantastic 2024–25 season, leading to his appointment as Motherwell’s captain.

Additionally, Miller was frequently linked to Celtic because it was widely acknowledged that he would be leaving Fir Park this summer.

He chose to relocate to Udinese in Serie A instead, and he revealed his innermost thoughts after making his debut for his new team.

Following Celtic connections, Lennon Miller acknowledges attention from “a few clubs.”
In a Serie A match against AC Milan, which his new team lost 3-0, Miller made his debut off the bench.

In order to help them turn things around, he will be attempting to make the starting lineup.

He talked about what impressed him about the club’s interest on Open Goal. A few clubs were clearly interested, but Udinese had been there since January, Miller stated. They had placed a bid back in January.

“So it’s like, ‘They really wanted me,’ after you find out they made the proposal in January. And it’s like, “These really really want me here,” when they return in the summer. They want me more than just the fact that I have one year left on my contract.

“They want me more than just because I’ll be less expensive than other players. That was on my mind as well, and the league is undoubtedly a big part of the reason I came here to view the location.

A Scottish wonderkid joining Celtic would have been fantastic, but would he have contributed enough?

Lennon Miller might have had trouble getting into the Celtics lineup.
Midfield isn’t one of the places where the Hoops’ team is weak.

Paulo Bernardo, Reo Hatate, and Callum McGregor would have been the teenager’s immediate rivals if he had moved to Parkhead.

It would not have been simple. His ability to contribute to Celtic is undeniable, but you can only satisfy so many players at once.

Instead, Miller joins a team that was obviously desperate to sign him in one of the premier leagues in Europe. That’s a great professional move.
