Lamine Yamal ‘Blocked’ From Flying Home With Teammates After Spain World Cup Qualifier

Following Spain’s 6-0 victory in the World Cup qualifying tournament, Lamine Yamal was reportedly “blocked” from travelling home with his teammates through the air.

Following his outstanding performance in La Roja’s 6-0 World Cup qualification thumping on Sunday, Lamine Yamal was unable to depart Turkey with his Spain colleagues.

At the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Stadium, the European champions went wild, with Ferran Torres of Barcelona joining in on the fun, Pedri helping himself to a brace, and Mikel Merino of Arsenal scoring a hat-trick.

In a match where he had a brief altercation with Real Madrid player Arda Guler, who shoved him in the second half, Yamal recorded two assists despite not scoring.

The 18-year-old was beaming, but after the game, when it seemed he couldn’t find his passport, his attitude altered.

footage from a Turkish source Before heading back to the dressing room to check, Beyaz Futbol showed a distraught Yamal, dressed in his own clothing and sporting headphones, looking for his passport on the team bus.

Alongside staff, the 2025 Ballon d’Or nominee was also spotted searching through his suitcase on a parking lot floor, although it was said that he left the stadium without the crucial paperwork.

On X, journalist Emir gave followers an update on the incident, writing: “Lamine Yamal’s passport was misplaced. Lamine Yamal spent a considerable amount of time looking for his passport after the game, then went back to the locker room and checked there as well. He didn’t find it when he exited the stadium.

According to Turkiye Today, the Spanish Football Federation spoke with local police and Turkish officials about the situation.

After then, the problem was fixed, and Yamal took a private flight home apart from the others.

In preparation for Sunday’s home match against Valencia, he will now head back to Barcelona for training.

When they come for international duty, members of the England national team, including Yamal’s teammate Marcus Rashford, usually submit their passports to FA employees, who then return them when needed.

Yamal has frequently been likened to Lionel Messi, the legendary player for Barcelona, and he has also experienced passport confusion.

Messi was stopped at Beijing airport passport check in 2023 for using his Spanish passport rather of his Argentinean one.

Messi reportedly waited two hours for an expedited visa that allowed him to enter China for a friendly match against Australia while officials were there.
