According to reports, La Liga has made a significant decision regarding referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero. This decision was made after he controversially sent off Jude Bellingham during Real Madrid’s match against Osasuna, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Real Madrid was reportedly contemplating whether or not to “quit” the Spanish league, according to reports that surfaced on Monday.
It was reported by the Spanish news outlet SPORT that Real Madrid were contemplating the possibility of leaving La Liga and “taking asylum” in one of the three major European leagues: Serie A, Bundesliga, or Ligue 1.
A move of this extraordinary nature, the likes of which have never materialised in the history of football, would, however, require authorisation from UEFA, FIFA, and La Liga itself.
Despite the fact that officials have refuted claims that were made by president Florentino Perez in the past, Los Blancos have become disillusioned with the refereeing standards in La Liga.
As a result of Jude Bellingham’s controversial dismissal from Real Madrid’s match against Osasuna on Saturday, the dissatisfaction reached a boiling point because of the controversial decision.
The referee, Munuera Montero, was under the impression that Bellingham had insulted him directly by saying “f**k you.” If this is proven to be true, the England international player could be suspended for anywhere between four and twelve matches.
The young man, who is 22 years old, denied that he had used the phrase. He told the reporters that he had actually said “f**k off,” and that he had directed his words towards himself rather than the official.
During the press conference that took place after the match, Carlo Ancelotti provided the following statement: “The red card, he [the referee] didn’t understand English very well.” Not “f**k you,” but rather “f**k off.” This is the point at which he miscalculated. ‘Don’t f**k with me’ is the phrase that is translated into Spanish here.
“During these three games, there have been two events that have taken place, and everyone has witnessed them. Considering that I would like to be on the bench for the next game, I do not feel like adding any more ingredients.
It has been asserted that La Liga has recently arrived at a significant decision concerning the Spanish official.
There are ten matches scheduled to take place during the upcoming La Liga matchweek, and according to Relevo, he has not been appointed to officiate any of them.
It is not clear what led to the decision; however, earlier this week, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) issued a statement in which they expressed their support for Montero.
It was written as follows: “The professional referees are completely disgusted by the attacks and threats that our colleague Jose Luis Munuera Montero is receiving through social networks.”
“These attacks add to the hatred and verbal violence through which we have to carry out our professional work every weekend, and that in the base categories becomes, even more regrettably, physical violence in many cases.”
