As his family looked on, Ethan Mbappe scored a late equaliser for Lille.
When his younger brother Ethan scored a late equaliser for Lille in their match against PSG on Sunday night, Kylian Mbappe was in the Stade Pierre-Mauroy stands, and his response went viral.
Last summer, the highly regarded Ethan Mbappe bid farewell to Luis Enrique and Paris Saint-Germain as his bigger sibling finalised a move to Real Madrid.
The 18-year-old midfielder, however, chose to stay in France and sign a three-year contract with Lille of Ligue 1, in contrast to his brother. According to GFFN, he stated during his unveiling, “I had to create my own path, my own story.”
“I would have remained in my brother’s shadow at PSG. For that, I believe LOSC is the best option.
Ethan, who made his league debut for PSG at the age of 16, entered the game as a late substitute in a 3-1 victory against Metz. He also talked about the challenges of playing under Mbappe at Les Parisiens.
“It’s difficult at first because you have to be good all the time, people will criticise you, and they expect you to be like your brother,” he continued.

“When that isn’t true. It’s a challenging name to live up to, yet I do it flawlessly. I’m attempting to write my own narrative.
Since joining Bruno Genesio’s team, Ethan has made an impression. Despite missing out on playing against his brother in the Champions League last year due to an injury, the midfielder made up for it on Sunday night.
He scored a fantastic equaliser in the 85th minute after coming off the bench against his old team, PSG. He did this by cutting in on his left foot and then shocking custodian Lucas Chevalier with a respectable strike from just inside the area.
He gestured to his family, who were in the stands, a few moments later, and cameras caught Kylian Mbappe’s joyous response as Ethan mimicked his brother’s well-known celebration.

Ethan left PSG at the end of his contract after making just five appearances. He responded to his detractors on Sunday, it’s safe to say.
Kylian Mbappe’s response to his brother’s action
Kylian stated that he would have been prepared to remain in Paris if his brother had secured a new contract at the Parc des Princes a few months after Ethan’s move to Lille.
“It’s the thing that affected me the most,” Kylian acknowledged in a December interview with Canal+. “Ethan didn’t make any requests. PSG was his Real Madrid. PSG was Real’s childhood ambition and what it meant to me.
“I even told him once, ‘If you want me to, I’ll extend [my contract], and you can stay, we’ll stay at this location.'” I would have stayed for him instead of pursuing my dream of Madrid.
Ethan said to me, ‘I don’t want to stay.'” The things they did to me and you are not typical. I would have given up on my goal of Madrid and stayed for him if he had told me, “Kylian, that’s what I want.”
